May be so. Note the most recent acts have been inside secular states. They have been trying to create Islamic states everywhere, trying to recreate their spectacular success of a thousand years ago. They are doomed to failure if history is any guide. Failed revolutions never find the same circumstances again and just fizzle. Ask Saddam how his new Babylonian Empire is coming. Too late to ask Mussolini how the new Roman Empire did.

It's one of those things in the deep past where you wish that the Mongols had been even MORE successful and stretched their empire all the way to Africa. At least the Mongols weren't suicidal nuts---just run of the mill bloodthirsty conquerors.
