After the July 7 London bombings, some in the United Kingdom wondered whether the bombing was in retaliation for the British having troops in Iraq. Perhaps, they suggested, a withdrawal, emulating the Spanish appeasement after the March 2004 Madrid bombings, would prevent further attacks.
There are two flaws in such thinking.

The killers always allege particular gripes — Australian troops in Iraq, Christian proselytizing, Hindu intolerance, occupation of the West Bank, theft of Arab petroleum, the Jews, attacks on the Taliban, the 15th-century re-conquest of Spain, and, of course, the Crusades.
Something I recall reading Benard Lewis(?) is that up until very recently "The Crusades" were not a big issuse in the Islamic world.

Given the numbers of Muslim found in America/Britian/"The West", IF most muslims bought into the terrorist fantasies (as you seem to imply) don't you think we would expect to see a LOT more numbers of terrorist incidences?

There are some passenger airline crashes that still appear to be the work of terrorists firing missiles. The TWA East coast disaster was, in many eyes, the work of terrorists as was the U. S. Air crash in Pittsburgh some years back.

Agreed. Maybe an announcement prior to hitting said targets to the effect of...."we will no longer apologize for collateral damage and the death of civilians who happen to remain in targeted area after being warned to leave".
Our refusal to hit areas where known terrorists happen to be because they surround themselves with civilians has to end, if THEY shoot the civilians then maybe the people will see who the real enemy is.

The hideous and immoral practice of the Islamomurderers of ALWAYS hiding themselves behind civilians, using human shields, basing snipers in hospitals and hotels and smuggling arms in ambulances --- not to mention storing arms in mosques ---- makes this infinitely more difficult.
But as you said: sometimes you have to warn the civilians to get outta there, protect the innocents as well as you can, size up the numbers, and then knock out the terrorists til they're in such shape as they can't aggress no mo' . It's like a hostage situation. No: it IS a hostage situation. On a massive scale. Lord God help us.
