Enough is enough

After the July 7 London bombings, some in the United Kingdom wondered whether the bombing was in retaliation for the British having troops in Iraq. Perhaps, they suggested, a withdrawal, emulating the Spanish appeasement after the March 2004 Madrid bombings, would prevent further attacks.

There are two flaws in such thinking.

People who think appeasement will stop Islamists form attacking non muslims don't understand the goal of Islam. The following article illustrates that point.

I see a third major flaw.
If terrorism works to change national policy to that demanded by the Jihadists, what would prevent other groups from resorting to terrorism in an attempt to change national policy? There are a lot of people in Islamic countries – like Iraq and Afghanistan – who do want a stable democratic government. What would prevent them from resorting to terrorism to regain support?

The most EFFECTIVE thing we could have done would be to frame our reply to 9-11 in punitive and retaliatory terms instead of a DEFENSIVE one, but that would have violated PC wouldn't it?

What else could possibly change when we do decide "enough is enough"?

It's just a question of how many liberals have to be blown up until they (the liberals) realize the hatred directed against them doesn't discriminate and is not being played as a bargaining chip for Western (mainly U.S.) concessions. What concessions, amongst the varied and ever-changing litany of grips, have any AQ-allied group ever demanded, and what promises have these groups ever kept?

The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind...

All of them. Part of being a liberal is the inability to learn from your mistakes. When you're a liberal and your idiotic liberal policy/law/etc does exactly the opposite of its stated goal you repeat the liberal mantra "We just didn't go far enough"

LIberals believe that if an action dictated by their socialistic dogma exacerbates a situation doing more of the same will somehow make things turn around and get better. 3000 NYC residents were murdered by Al Queda, yet NYC voted OVERWHELMINGLY for Kerry, and ultra liberal senators Schemer and Hitlery. Apparently liberal New Yorkers are too arrogant to learn from anything - after all if you already know everything what's left to learn?

General William Tecumseh Sherman knew the answer to your question. He gave it with his march through the South, where he destroyed the pridefulness and sustenance. He gave it with his destruction of the buffalo herds, which had fed the Plains Indians and allowed them a prideful vanity in their warrior-ism.

When you hear a surrender from our enemies like the following, then you will know peace:

I Will Fight No More Forever
Surrender Speech by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce

I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. Looking Glass is dead. Toohulhulsote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led the young men is dead.

It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are--perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children and see how many I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead.

Hear me, my chiefs. I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.

(Souce: http://www2.gsu.edu/~eslmlm/chiefjoseph.html)

"I am tired of fighting ... Hear me, my chiefs. I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever. "

You are 100% correct, and THAT is how war should be fought.

"..We are waiting for a Western leader with the intellectual integrity and guts at last to say, "Enough is enough."

Once again Mr. Hanson has his finger on the pulse of what is going on. I think his focus is reversed on the above statement however. I will explain what I mean: As the Confederate Army was abandoning Richmond and began their trek towards the fate which destiny held for them at Appomattox Court House Gen. Lee's advisors presented a plan to him of having the rebel army disburse into the mountains of Virginia to conduct guerilla warfare/terrorist operations indefinitely. The attitude was one of "never surrender". Had Gen. Lee adopted this course of action, the U.S. could theoretically still be in the throes of dealing with a national rift.

Instead Gen. Lee recognized that such actions would lead the South which he dearly loved would down a path of never ending violence, death, and destruction. He proved to be a leader with the strength and integrity to say "enough is enough". Although Gen. Lee turned his back on his nation and attempted to rip it in two, history has proven to be quite kind to the General, this is mostly in recognition of these qualities which eventually led him to Appomattox instead of an endless cycle of terrorism.

As Mr. Hanson points out, the grievances held by the extremists in the Middle East will never be resolved. Assuming their goal of pushing Israel into the Sea they would simply revert to grievances held since the crusades. Rather than waiting and looking for a Western leader to say "Enough is Enough", we should be looking for a Middle Eastern Leader to fill the same role that Gen Lee had the strength to fill and lead his/her people out of the mountains and away from the never ending madness of retribution and "never say die attitude" which has lasted for centuries.

The UK, as well as the US, will have to change the way they consider and handle muslims.

Both nations are heavily into the sophomorically stupid poltical correctness crap that was conceived by those with brains like sieves.

Racial profiling must be used at all times. Not understanding that if a muslim is not an out and out terrorist killer with plastic explosives strapped around his stomach, then he/she is an accommodator of one type or another.

They either bankroll the mindless bloodshed or they watch it unfold with glee!

There are not two versions of Mohammed's satin-inspired book. They all read and understand the one true Ko-Ran!

Muslims are such an aberration in polite society that they need to be repatriated to an islamic country.

From the article:

'. . .the United States and its allies can deny suspect Middle Eastern males entry into the West while distancing themselves from all the dictatorships of the Middle East, which neither punish nor even shame thousands of their citizens whose money and psychological support fuel murderers across the globe. We are waiting for a Western leader with the intellectual integrity and guts at last to say, "Enough is enough."'

Really saying "enough is enough" would mean barring entrance to ALL Middle Eastern males, perhaps all Middle Eastern visitors of either gender. It would mean kicking out any Middle Eastern native who is not a citizen. In the US, we could never do that. No leader in the West can or will say "enough is enough" and back away from the Middle East oil kleptocracies until and unless we are energy-independent, which may not happen for many years.

They themselves will have to produce that leader, he, himself will have to rise up among them. We can't pick that man, we can't even encourage him. Any "encouragement" we'd give takes away from his effectivness in speaking the truth to his people.

Exactly. When I said that we should be looking for this man I meant it in the sense of keeping an eye out for such a person to step forward, not actively finding or creating him.

This is another reason why the focus of where the leader who will need to say "enough is enough" should be on a Middle Eastern one, not a Western one.
