President Bush has chosen federal appeals court judge John G. Roberts Jr. as his nominee to the Supreme Court, a senior administration official says...
I agree wholeheartedly!
They are hysterically funny right now! I urge everyone who can stomach the stench to view the spectacle for themselves. Here's an example of a Roberts case that infuriates them:
Environmental Protection and Property Rights
Voted for rehearing in a case about whether a developer had to take down a fence so that the arroyo toad could move freely through its habitat. Roberts argued that the panel was wrong to rule against the developer because the regulations on behalf of the toad, promulgated under the Endangered Species Act, overstepped the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce.
I sure hope the toad has a good lawyer.
How do things like this get leaked to the press? I have been waiting for his press conference. Clueless, nervous, stressed. ;o)
The quote is from a brief he wrote as a lawyer for the Reagan administration. The view is not necessarily his own.
Separated at birth with Bill Pullman, Pres....Independence Day!
True. It was fun seeing the MSM try to keep it alive these past few days. Now they'll finally (and I hate to use this expression) move on.
Yes - unfortunately, that also means we're in for a $hit storm.
President Bush has redeemed himself and his party.
With Specter, Schiavo and the cave on the nuclear option for appellate judges, the Republicans were headed towards a divided party and collapse.
But where it counted, once again the President kept his flawless record regarding campaign promises.
An excellent choice.
And now it is the responsibility of the Senate to make it happens.
Any subsequent choices must also be of the same caliber.
Thank you, President Bush.
If/When he is approved, there will have to be another nomination to the DC Court of Appeals. More fireworks!
I just turned CNN on for the first time in 6 months and John King was talking about him as a conservative.
I think the talking point you'll be hearing from now on will be " his law firm represented Bush in Bush v Gore....this chronyism...etc etc."
Ted Kennedy's response to the Roberts pick: "AH'M GONNA EAT YA!!!!!!!"
Then I'm happy!
Since there's a high expectation for the next pick to be Hispanic, I'd really like to see you get your wish with Estrada getting the next nod.
That'll be the libs line of attack.
I just flipped over to CNN for a quick look. Paula Zahn looked like she had been stomach punched. She was in shock for a few minutes.
Well, I was hoping for someone else.. but he didn't ask me.
thanks for ping Chris
Let's see how obnoxious the RATS can get with this one
Let's be real: at that level, you don't just move someone up to appellate court, then to USSC in two months. It wasn't going to happen. Brown is tremendously qualified, . . . and I won't be surprised if a year from now she ends up being a nominee if there is a vacancy. But this was just too soon.
