TICK TOCK...............
Jones is the best imaginable pick. I will celebrate tonight and toast George W. Bush if this is true!
true, however if the nominee is a social climber {or the nominee's spouse is, as Nixon revealed was the case with Powell}... then they might change their views just to be liked by the press, or their spouse, after their spouse is repeatedly harangued at DC cocktail parties.
Where can I find that statement?
My bad, read too fast. I'm sure Bush's ratings would drop if a "moderate" were to replace O'Conner.
"EDITH JONES - THE FEMALE SCALIA!"
I think I heard Hannity wondering if Bush is picking her. Not sure though. I sure hope and pray it is. FRegards....
"Is this the same one?"
I think so. Yes. I remember reading, in addition to her excellent qualifications as a judge and intellect, that she and her husband adopted some children. I may be mistaken on this. But when I read about her curriculm vitae i was truly impressed.
From your link: "A person of tremendous personal strength and character having led her family through a difficult time after her husband was incapacitated by a major stroke, while at the same time discharging her full time duties as a district court judge."
O God let it be her - Judge Edith Clement.
"I'm sure Bush's ratings would drop if a "moderate" were to replace O'Conner."
GOP donations would dry up.
Agreed.
And should anyone have any imput to offer about whether Clement is a socialite I believe that would be fair evidence to enter into this discussion.
Bill Clinton certainly didn't fail to appoint known leftist judges. Why in the world with 55-seat majority in the Senate should conservatives have to wonder about the nominee their President nominates?

Interesting.
Thanks!

Judge Edith Clement: "The [Baby Killing] Law is settled."
If she's chosen, get the chopping block ready for baby sausage.
Its all going to come down to 'Does Edith Jones like Ruth's Chris and did she attend the Freedom Concert?' Here only saving grace may be if she sent a lobstergram.
You gotta be kidding me.
What in the world do you have against Thomas?
I note she joins in dissents with Edith Jones most of the time. Certainly seems conservative to me.
I thought people said yesterday all her cases had to do with maritime. Most of those are real cases there that matter and give some insight into her philosophy.
I would like to see some more social issue cases to get a better reading, but she certainly seems conservative.
I don't fall under the rules for that!
