Nearly one-third of all births in New Jersey in 2002 were to immigrant mothers, the most ever, according to a new study that examines how the massive influx of immigrants is transforming communities and posing new challenges for the nation's education and health care systems.
"We've never been here before," said Steve Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington, D.C., think tank that conducted the study. "We're headed into uncharted territory in terms of the size of the second generation."
In New Jersey, immigrants make up 18 percent of the total population and accounted for 31.9 percent of all births in 2002, the study found. By comparison, just 9.6 percent of babies were born to foreign-born mothers in 1970.

I'm not sure, but I knew and ESL teacher in California that said she lost her job when ESL was eliminated and was looking to move to Washington state to teach Spanish, but changed her mind when she found out that WA paid $15,000 less than CA and that there were few job openings.
They are having the children American born women won't have, at rates American women won't conceive at.
It sounds as though her "beef" is with folks who are breaking our laws and adding to her tax burden while they are doing it...

All immigrants...now 40 years into the current binge of immigration (unprecedented in American history in terms of length)...its time for a breather...its past time to give the immigrants already here a chance to assimilate which can best and most efficiently be done by halting all immigration for a time.
What do you suggest?
Good point, I've argued not so much to limit immigration as I believe for multiple reasons immigration has been a good thing for America.. But instead increase the numbers of gropus that we know are assimilating well, and beyond assimilating just doing well in general.
The Indians, Japanese, Lebanese.. and probably Chinese all not only earn as much as American whites, but earn more. Which also of course means they are paying much more in taxes then they are receiving.
We also could use more professional young people from around the world, to fuel many of our high tech industries.
Excellent point. And I'll go further than that, why dont native Jerseyites breed? Why is the white birthrate of this country, and countries throughout the world, so low? It is not even at replenisment level (2.1 babies per couple). Without these immigrants, our population would implode, wreaking all sorts of havoc on our social welfare system. Look at Europe, they are importing as fast as they can and their population is STILL dwindling, and because their welfare system is much more extensive than our own, they will see problems far sooner than we will.
Whenever I come across a well-to-do couple with 0 or 1 kids, I tell them "stop F-ing around and start F-ing, BREED".
Dirty? How about diseased? Criminals? Capable of supporting themselve? Typically we screen folks for diseases and criminal backgrounds before they are admitted; at least we screen those who obey our laws.

I see. So the problem is not with a government who will not enforce it's own laws? And politicians who pass laws to "add to the tax burden" by taking money from one person and giving it to another person to whom it does not rightfully belong?
If the gals I've seen at MIT are any indication, you are probably correct both as to specific ethnicities, rates of assimilation, and ability to contribute to society and pay taxes.
I don't believe that taxpayers should be forced to pay for anybody's better life, because that's socialism. I think we should get rid of socialism instead of trying to oust people who are here and trying to give birth. If they can pay for it, fine! If not, then they should give birth at home or in a car or where they are. How do you think they gave birth 1000 years ago? There were no clean hospitals like today. By the way, if the illegal immigrants break the law, they should be caught and deported, of course!

The problem is with both the governments and politicians that you cite as well as those that take advantage of them. If I can steal from you because the police won't do their job, won't your "beef" be both with me and the police?
Get them all HDTV and free cable...cuts down on the prerequisite activity.
