US President George Bush is attending the G8 Summit at Gleneagles, Scotland, which unfortunately was disturbed today due to the terrorist attack in London. British PM Tony Blair left Gleneagles to return to London briefly to assess the situation though returned to the summit later in the evening.

The summit will continue tomorrow but it is expected to end probably a little earlier than originally intended to allow Tony Blair to return to London tomorrow afternoon

Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo a routine exam Friday to check the condition of a high-tech pacemaker that was placed in his chest in June 2001.

Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said the tests at George Washington University Medical Center would include a physical exam, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test. The vice president planned to be back at work later in the day, she said.

"It's a routine physical," she said. She said the vice president also would have a colonoscopy later this month.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signed the book of condolences at the British Embassy in Washington she also met with the British Ambassador to the U.S. David Manning

ODDS & ENDS . . .

BUSH'S STUNNING HOME RUNS
Terry McCrann
07jul05

US PRESIDENT George W. Bush has brilliantly nailed the feel-good politically correct worthlessness of both the Kyoto global 'warming' treaty and Live 8's make poverty 'history' in a stunning double play.

He has done so not by attacking them directly, easy enough as that would be to do. Like a relative asked to comment on kindergarten artwork, he's too polite to so embarrass British PM Tony Blair, who's embraced them both.
But by offering alternatives that would actually work. And especially in helping Africa work, immediately and dramatically.

That finger-clicking stunt of the various celebrities -- every three-second click, a child dies -- captures the contrast with exquisite inadvertence.

They want to embrace continued global finger-clicking as the policy solution. Bush in contrast has demanded the one thing that has worked for everyone else: trade and economic growth.

RUDY GIULIANI IN LONDON AND SEES TERROR AGAIN
By Sam Knight, Times Online

Rudolph Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York so closely identified with his city's recovery after September 11 attacks, was in London this morning, just yards from Liverpool Street station when the bombs went off.

Mr Giuliani, who was given an honorary knighthood by the Queen in recognition of his leadership in 2001 said today's events strongly recalled the attacks on the World Trade Centre.

"They are a very eerie reminder of September 11. I was right near Liverpool [Street] station when the first bombing took place, so I could hear the sirens and then kept hearing reports of different bombings, in different parts of the city," he told Sky News television.

PRESIDENT BUSH JOB APPROVAL

Thursday July 07, 2005--Fifty-two percent (52%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. This is just the second time his Approval Rating has topped 50% since June 10. It remains to be seen whether this improvement reflects lasting change or is merely statistical noise.

Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove of the President's performance.

Just 15% of voters believe the U.S. would be safer today if we had avoided the War with Iraq and left Saddam Hussein in power.

Senator Hillary Clinton is viewed favorably by 40% of Americans and unfavorably by 40%.

No, nothing is surprising anymore.

When I heard that one of the stations that was hit was King's Cross, I was sad as I remember when I was in London with a friend of mine back in 1988, we stayed the whole night at King's Cross as our rooms at the B&B in London wasn't ready yet.

I remeber how big it is and how well it was built.

There is an old barracks in Trenton, New Jersey that is now a museum. The following is from the NJ museum ListServ, and I thought it might be of interest:

Hi folks,
Having heard the awful news about the bombings in London early this morning, the day campers at the Old Barracks' Fife and Drum camp raised the colonial "Red Ensign" (red flag with the pre-1800 Union Jack in the canton that flew over all British colonial outposts in the 18th C.) on the Barracks' flagstaff and played "God Save the Queen" at 9 AM.

At this afternoon's "Trooping of the Colours" ceremony (which they've done every afternoon this week), they will troop the reproduction of the King's Colour of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Regt. of Foot (a gift of Queen Elizabeth on the completion of the Officer's House restoration in 1993) who wintered at the Barracks in Trenton in 1759-60.

Sadly,
Rich Patterson, Exec. Dir.

Sounds like a good plan. Perhaps here and there we will see a shortage on British Flags as developed after 911 here a shortage of USA flags. I better get active quickly to secure one!

I was thinking when I looked at that picture that his hand was probably pretty swollen, yet he managed to get his wedding ring on.

I just love the guy..........that's all there is to it!

"Your nephew will be on tomorrow's prayer list.
Meanwhile we will remember and pray tonight especially for LCpl Steven, Marine, currently in Iraq, second tour."

Thank you. May the blessing of the Lord, the living God creator of all and Father of Jesus the Lord, bless all our members who take the time to pray for these honorable men and women putting their souls, hearts, and sometimes lives on the line as they each day are duty bound to do so.

God bless,
George
