ODDS & ENDS . . .

BUSH'S STUNNING HOME RUNS
Terry McCrann
07jul05

US PRESIDENT George W. Bush has brilliantly nailed the feel-good politically correct worthlessness of both the Kyoto global 'warming' treaty and Live 8's make poverty 'history' in a stunning double play.

He has done so not by attacking them directly, easy enough as that would be to do. Like a relative asked to comment on kindergarten artwork, he's too polite to so embarrass British PM Tony Blair, who's embraced them both.
But by offering alternatives that would actually work. And especially in helping Africa work, immediately and dramatically.

That finger-clicking stunt of the various celebrities -- every three-second click, a child dies -- captures the contrast with exquisite inadvertence.

They want to embrace continued global finger-clicking as the policy solution. Bush in contrast has demanded the one thing that has worked for everyone else: trade and economic growth.

RUDY GIULIANI IN LONDON AND SEES TERROR AGAIN
By Sam Knight, Times Online

Rudolph Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York so closely identified with his city's recovery after September 11 attacks, was in London this morning, just yards from Liverpool Street station when the bombs went off.

Mr Giuliani, who was given an honorary knighthood by the Queen in recognition of his leadership in 2001 said today's events strongly recalled the attacks on the World Trade Centre.

"They are a very eerie reminder of September 11. I was right near Liverpool [Street] station when the first bombing took place, so I could hear the sirens and then kept hearing reports of different bombings, in different parts of the city," he told Sky News television.

PRESIDENT BUSH JOB APPROVAL

Thursday July 07, 2005--Fifty-two percent (52%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. This is just the second time his Approval Rating has topped 50% since June 10. It remains to be seen whether this improvement reflects lasting change or is merely statistical noise.

Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove of the President's performance.

Just 15% of voters believe the U.S. would be safer today if we had avoided the War with Iraq and left Saddam Hussein in power.

Senator Hillary Clinton is viewed favorably by 40% of Americans and unfavorably by 40%.
