There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

IMHO you won't find very many hardcore patriots on the left, they are too busy try9ng to blame GW for "anything" at all that happens. How are you sleuth?

Wouldn't that explain the 'falling apart' effect, and the minimal damage on the ground? The aircraft disintegrated in midair and was seen disintegrating by several people. But it disintegrated because it slewed around and went sideways, bellied up and went upside-down, and with nose toward the ground. It was trying to fly belly-first and nose-down. The airframe can't do that.
The pilots basically never had a chance, once they got into the worst of the turbulence caused by the JAL jet.

It amazes me that people who are not a supporter of a given candidate feel the need to get on a thread that is about someone they don't support, why bother? They just like to cause trouble.

Has any one noted that today's date could be called double 07? Yes, there have been several comments and attempts at conversation on that point, but the thread's been too fast-moving during the day (a post about every 15 seconds between 3 am. and 8 pm).
There was also discussion of the fact that the explosions in Madrid and London occurred at the same time of day, local time, within a minute or two of each other, and within a couple of minutes of the initial attack on WTC1 on 9/11.

Good idea!
Most was good, but someone pulled a 12 year old quote from the WaPo to try and prove that Sen. Allen is something he is not. Whoa...screeds followed. Everyone pushing their candidate, even though the title was "George Allen" here it is if you want to look later.

Last I heard it was 4 that went off and 2 that didn't. But that could certainly change.

Thanks perhaps tomorrow I will have to do a little "slash and burn", I don't like it when people lie about my candidate. Ask my Yahoo groups about my constant defense of a certain George W. Bush, when the comments are unfair or untrue. I am not a kool-aid drinker, after all.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot. Good find. Thanks.
My theory is simply that the announcement from the Olympic committee was the designated "go" signal. Probably been in work since those four premium targets (New York, Madrid, Paris, London) were all on the same short list.
New York, Madrid, and Paris should be looking for whoever would have perpetrated such a coordinated attack in their cities. Sigh.

These terrorists are super sick semi-humans. They get their jollies using our money that they steal or get by hook or crook to fund their ops and then do a bunch of weird machinations that just goes to show how psychotic they truly are. We can't kill enough of them fast enough for me.
