BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

Speaking of McCain, I cruised through AirAmerica during a Rush commercial, and the idiots over there were playing a quote from McCain about how we need to go anywhere the terrorists are to get them, and that includes finishing the job in Iraq....

The talk host said that he was with McCain, up until McCain mentioned IRAQ, because according to the talk host, there are NO terrorists in Iraq, the Americans are TRAINING them in Iraq to send to London and elsewhere!!!

I'm not trying to be cynical, but 90 casualties is a far stretch from 9-11's 3,000 plus...

I've always thought that AQ had no idea the towers would fall. Casualties would have been much lower if they had stood. I also believe that it's gotten harder for AQ to pull off a spectacular attack like 9-11. We know now that 9-11 was years (maybe a decade +) in planning. Since then they've been on the run and their money and other networks have been seriously damaged.

The situation here in London is calm. My girlfriend, who works near Tottenham Court Road, arrived into work ten minutes before the attacks started. She was leaving a message on my mobile (cellular) phone when the bus bombing went off in Russell Square. I could hear the explosion in the background.

We have both just returned from giving blood and having spoken to all our friends and loved ones around town the consensus is the same - WE WILL NOT BE COWED BY THESE FASCISTS.

Our mood is upbeat and our character strong. There is belief that this will be the first attack of many, but despite this, we will NOT surrender.

To the terrorists we say this - be ready, you've stuck your heads above the pulpit, now it's YOUR turn to be the prey. And we're bigger, badder, and smarter than you'll EVER be.

This guy had a caller right after that, that said that "we Progressives must not let this London thing keep our attention from the "important" things here in the USA.."

He then went on to say that they were talking yesterday about how Rove had outed Valerie Plame...but now, after this, it is MORE IMPORTANT, because (strap yourself in)

Plame was "in charge" of getting rid of WMD proliferation, and since Rover "outed" her, she wasn't able to do her "job" anymore, so NOW the terrorists are using these weapons in London and elsewhere!!!

I kid you not! That is what they are discussing, how it is Rove's fault for outing Plame,...this whole thing, since 9/11 and that it makes it imperative that Rove be "outed" for outing Plame....

It was published as a list of fatalities by country a year or so after 9/11. I'm sorry but I have misplaced the original source. IIRC, it was either a US or UN document reported here on FR.

I took the trouble to extract the mooselimb countries myself, and do the math.

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a breakdown by religion, an odd piece of missing data in a religious war. Ooops, I forgot, it officially isn't a religious war, is it?

I therefore had no way of isolating mooselimb-Americans. There are probably many more than your husband's best friend's brother lost in the shuffle.

Although I would think if it were a significant number that fact would have been reported as it would taint the 'victory' from a mooselimb viewpoint.

I would also think that if the number were low, it would be hidden as that would fuel speculation that 'All mooselimbs knew' in advance. Certainly the MSM devoted a lot of ink and airtime to CAIR and their ilk's claims that Joooooooos were warned away, didn't they?

BTW, the 9/11 toll included far more Israeli casualties than ALL the mooselimb countries combined...
