BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

Betcha it doesn't on Greta's show, though!!!

Greta was called back to the United States to cover this story. She will be in Washington, DC tonight covering the London bombings.

This is what Hugh Hewitt is referring to when he calls Freepers modern day coastwatchers.

WWII Coastwatchers

If this turns out to be a terrorist released from Gitmo, the MSM will claim it was Bush's fault because the terrorist confinement made him angry and capable of doing such a thing.

EVERYTHING is Bush's fault! Reid said in an interview that Hillary Clinton is not necessarily the best candidate for President and also thinks Pres. Bush will recess appoint Bolton! Drudge Source.

LOL---I listen to the BBC on my local NPR station at night..instead of having to listen to Alan Colmes...

I enjoy listening to the "different" point of view, but I change channels during the "sports" time!!

I'd agree with that. The reaction I'm seeing seems to be a quiet determination not to be intimidated or otherwise influenced by this.

We all knew this was going to happen when we signed up for Iraq. Some British people think the price of supporting the US was worth it and others don't. I don't think either group is likely to change their minds over this.

Shep has been off my list after The Great One Mark Levin said on FR that he was a "big lib."

Didn't know that. He's off mine too.... Thanks for the info.

Speaking of Martin, I suppose Chris Martin of Coldplay rarely uses public transportation. Wonder what's on his mind?

So to say it was a recent Gitmo inmate is just speculation at this point.

I was passing on information that was reported. Of course, I personally, don't know who did what and neither do you!

Not trying to gloat at all here, but I wonder if all the people over there who were bitching about us holding these bastards are happy that we finally released thim?

If true, the whiners will just say that the "torture" at Gitmo turned good islamic gentlemen into terrorists.

Oh--dear, I saw a Canadian on O'Reilly's show last night--John Gibson was subbing, (YAY), and this Canadian was saying that there are a LOT more people of the "terrorist" leanings in Canadian cities, than any other country that isn't an Arab city...

He said that the Tamil Tigers from Sri Lanka have a huge group up there, and al-queda, and Islamic Jihad, and he said that they have been welcomed...and they are taking advantage by "blending" into all of Canadian society....

and will probably blend into Canadian "tourists" coming to AMERICA!!!

So, in other words, MARTIN IS AN IDIOT!!!

The left and their relentless political correctness crap is partially why we are where we are today regarding the way we coddle these extremists and aren't able to call a spade a spade. You think this would've happened in WWII? Nope.

I used to listen to NPR, but now there's only so much my stomach can handle while I'm driving. Occasionally, I'll watch BBC on PBS, but I haven't watched any actual PBS programming since my daughter stopped watching Clifford. Too bad; I liked that show.
