There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

Hey, everybody, guess what? The UN Security Council has unanimously passed a resolution condemning the attack. Now, doesn't that make you all feel better?
No. The vaporization and cobaltization of Mecca, Medina and Qom would, though.

They shouldn't even be there in the first place. They have their own countries to blow up. Send them home.

Ok, friend, so we'll all just sit around and be REAL careful not to OFFEND any of the arabs, muslims or other M.E, crazies just we can all feel GOOD about the fact we aren't letting them change that about us which made us great.
Meanwhile we'll be getting the sh*t kicked out of us, having our subways, busses, schools, shopping centers and whatever else blown to smithereens along with our wives, children, friends and relatives, but hey, that's ok because we'll be holding the fuc*in moral high ground!
Just what the hell kind of a person refuses to adapt their lifestyle to a killing situation because of some moral conviction that all we have to do to beat the animals is let them kill us until....until...until what, until they get tired? After we wear them down by allowing them to kill us then we go out and arrest them all, give them lawyers and therapy and sentence them to probation after which we allow them to go home?
Say, are you related to Neville Chamberlain?

It's about stating fact absent commentator or reporter opinion and they use key words to exaggerate their points of view. Example,"horrific" instead of just common language. They then use so-called experts to justify their message. "We're losing Iraq", the MSM has been trying to imply and they bring every Clintonian out of the woodwork to make the same claim. Now watch, the message will not be how UK retaliates but how everyone is vulnerable. The MSM needs to once again focus on the terrorist being evil, not brilliant.
We're on the same side with our dislike of terrorist but I probably differ with you on my opinion of the MSM and that's ok, no argument needed.

That's why as point #2 I have "reduce or eliminate our dependence on Muslim oil". Hard, but by not doing it we are supporting the societies that breed those who would kill us!!!!

Good. :) Maybe I'm being naive.. but either way, I think our disagreement would be a difference of opinion whether the MSM is stupid or evil. So you're right, we're on the same side.

You can spank a 5 year-old. What to do about traitorous Democrats? Wish I knew the answer to that.

Sorry, I should have paid more attention to that point. Indeed this is the fix we are in : we can't stand them, and they can't stand us, but they are our major provider and we are their major customer. It's high time to find something to get rid of our oil dependence, and I hope the Cadarache ITER fusion reactor will open a way out for our economies.

Al Qaida is taking "credit" for this awful act.
Can we please stop referring to Islam as a "religion of peace now"?
I wonder if the Guardian will now better understand our war on terror...
...nah, America bashing sells too many papers.
To: steveegg
Yep, gritting teeth right now. When something of this magnitude happens I have zero patience listening to idiot rats like Shep.
