Several bloggers have drawn attention to a strange lead in a Washington Post story about the Terri Schiavo autopsy results. The June 16 Post story by David Brown said that "Terri Schiavo died of the effects of a profound and prolonged lack of oxygen to her brain on a day in 1990, but what caused that event isn't known and may never be, the physician who performed her autopsy said

You're welcome.:)
I think we sometimes forget that FR is a grassroots, activist, Pro-Life website. It's where we find the truth and disseminate it to others. All this debate only gives us more info and sharpens our facts in order to fight secularists, humanists and those who don't understand the value of life.
That's why an investigation is called for -- to find out what happened and WHEN it happened, in order to resolve any such questions. Michael, the only witness, is the only source of the hours in question. Since he gave several different accounts, you can't credit one version of his stories over another. They may all be false. The incident may have occurred just before the call to 911. Who knows?
This much is certain: not investigating is guaranteed never to find out the truth.
>> Additionally, we could discern no rational motivation for attacking one's spouse allowing her to linger near death for forty minutes or more and then calling for help in sufficient time to save her life so she could potentially name her assailant."
Who looks for "rational motivation" in a crime of passion? The motivation in such cases is going to be something more like conscience... remorse... a desperate hope to undo a horrible act committed when a row got out of hand.
People like MS seek out insecure partners for their own purposes. Terri had a weight problem during puberty, and it probably trashed her self esteem. According to several sources, MS was the first man Terri dated. Btw, although she could have dabbled in bulimia and anorexia, her body could have just "grown up". My second oldest daughter had a terrible weight problem, and overnight she shot up 4 inches, and dropped over 50 lbs. She was in her late teens.
People say my judgement is tainted, but I've walked the walk. I have health problems from dealing with 27 years of flight/fight adrenalin rushes. It is very likely that MS will get away scot-free. I've seen that happen on a personal level. Imo, some people (the Clintoons come to mind) have "Satanic protection". They wiggle out of everything. Nothing sticks to them.
I am fiercely interested that justice be done. Not just for Terri, but all victims and targets of sociopaths.
That is a very good point. I forget sometimes that we have lurkers reading our posts. Lol, I was a lurker for a couple of years, until the Clintoons left office.
That same quote caught my eye as well. I think the study showed that 62% of the police officers did not observe evidence of strangulation in strangulation cases.
There need be no bruises. The DA's report makes clear that strangulation often produces less external marking than we would expect.
If there were external marks on Terri's throat, they could easily have been missed. Terri was completely unresponsive, "decerebrate," not breathing. She was defibbed several times. She was trach'd and vented at the ER. Nobody is likely to closely study the marks on her throat after all this frantic activity and especially after they cut open her throat for the tracheotomy.
Yes, and that was the sticking point for me. I've been quietly thinking about what could have happened that night, for several years. I had always assumed that someone was choked, would bear some sort of physical evidence. As the links prove, this is not always the case. Furthermore, we have learned that metabolic abnormalities occur during a struggle, and either choking or physical restrait will excaberate the existing problems caused by the situation.
See my post #887. You know what they say about assuming. Of course the medical technicians and doctors were more concerned about keeping Terri alive at that point. If there were any marks or redness, they'd disappear and no one would be the wiser.
Perhaps this could be a reason why MS waited before calling 911?
If she had died 15 years ago, an autopsy might have revealed something, depending on what happened and how long it took.
the classic sign of strangulation [is]- petechiae - little blood marks on the face and in the eyes, from burst blood capillaries.But...
In asphyxial syndromes, it is even possible for all the findings to be negative in particular cases when death is due to direct neurogenic action (compression of the neck) at the cardiac level and the time is too short for petechiae and other signs to form.
There is no evidence that she ever engaged in any sort of dietary abuse. She used NutriSysttem to shed her excess weight.
Remember, for all of her weight problems and insecurity as a high school girl, this was eight years later. She was married, well employed, and had her weight pretty well under control in a normal range. (Michael confirmed this; he also denied that at first that she was bulimic.)
The whole factless bulimia theory was based on a single blood test showing hypokalemia an hour after she got to the ER. The condition was treated and her blood potassium normalized within hours. The problem did not return, so was not chronic as you'd expect from a dietary problem. Dr. Thogmartin attributed that one low reading to the emergency treatments she received. Several of those (epinephrine, the bolus, VF) could have produced a temporary low potassium figure.
Yes. But after fifteen years, there was roughly zero chance the ME would find some lingering sign of strangulation. Dr. Thogmartin hardly discussed it because there was no chance to learn anything after so much time.
Earlier, I believe both Drs. Baden and Hammesfahr found a stiffness in her neck consistent with strangulation.
Agreed.
Terri had lactic acidosis. This can be caused by several things but the only one that seems pertinent is: extreme exertion in the absence of oxygen. She may very well have been fighting desperately for her breath -- for her life. (More about this in the TEJ article by a Florida nurse that was posted today.)
Extreme exertion when she gets up at, say, 5:00 in the morning to go to the bathroom?? Does not compute.
One MUST assume that she was assaulted.
bttt
From the report again:
"Having reviewed the report and discussed the autopsy investigation with Dr. Thogmartin and his chief investigator Bill Pellan in detail and having also reviewed transcripts of the 1992 and 2002 court proceedings along with documents previously supplied to us by the Schindler family, it is obvious to us that there is no possibility of proving that anyone's criminal act was responsible for Mrs. Schiavo's collapse. Despite a thoroughly researched and extensive autopsy that included consultations with other expert pathologists and an exhaustive search for and review of all available medical records and other information concerning the events surrounding Terri's collapse, Dr. Thogmartin has been unable to determine why it occurred. He has convinced us that there are no remaining medical records in existence that would assist him in resolving what caused her 1990 cardiac arrest to a resonable degree of medical certainty.'
"Without proof of criminal agency, there can be no hope of prosecution. Nor is there justification to use our investigative powers to perpetuate suspicion where, despite extended litigation and a detailed autopsy, we have no proof to suggest that a crime has occurred."
To put it simply, even on CSI, unless they can determine the cause to be criminal, they cannot start a criminal investigation.
Now, you may not like it, but innuendo and speculation are not accepted in a criminal investigation. And as far as I'm concerned that is the end of it. You can go on speculating to your heart's content but it won't make any difference without proof. And I refuse to keep debating speculation.. Have a good day.
I forgot to say, perhaps Michael, is "lucky" that Terri didn't die at home that night.
At least, perhaps he's been "lucky" so far.
Charges of some sort could still be brought against him in the future. Someone could speak out. Evidence of a coverup could be discovered.
Maybe, someday, his kids will talk about something "Daddy" inadvertantly told them.
So far as I know, being a jerk is not a crime. And being insecure is no one else's fault but your own. I think that the stress causing the arrest is just as good a scenerio as all of the beating and choking theories. And of course that's all they are, theories. People may have to face the fact they will never know. All of this time spent on speculation could be put to better use IMHO.
You're right...it's good to wait for hard evidence, before bringing charges.
Records and witnesses do occasionally pop up after an investigation. Ask Kofi Annan.
You can go on speculating to your heart's content
Thank you.
I like to speculate.
True. Loads of documentation. Probably the biggest active archive on Terri at this point, and the ladies keep digging.
This evidently does not sit well with some folks. The site was hacked a couple of weeks ago, and suffered a lot of damage. In the world of thugs, this was probably a celebrated intellectual achievement.
