Vic Eliason presents two audio cuts. One features Robert Schuller being interviewed by Dr. David DiCanio after giving a keynote address at the 2004 National Association of Evangelicals meeting. The other cut features Robert Schuller interviewing Billy Graham. The two discuss their views concerning how people are saved.

Dr. DiCanio interacts with callers to discuss the opinions expressed by Schuller and Graham and the current move of some leaders in Christianity to preach a gospel that teaches salvation apart from a conscious, biblical awareness of Christ as the only way to God.

The stage is set for the Antichrist. If you don't believe in anything you will fall for everything. I never expected to see Billy Graham fit this description.

Exactly. IF people would only read the Bible they would KNOW what God expects us to do, and how we can get to Heaven. I don't know why Billy Graham said such a ridiculous thing, if, in fact, he did say it. I haven't listened to the tape yet. He has preached the Gospel for 60 years, and I have never once heard him say anything but the way to Heaven is through the shed blood of Jesus.

Thank you. Such backbiting as this thread promotes grieves the heart of The Father most deeply, and I cannot sit in idle dismay as a faithful servant of The Most High King of Heaven are slandered and defamed among the heathen. I hope always to edify, and to heal, to correct gently and to quell strife among the members of the Body of Christ.

I have noted before, and repeat here that all we who are in Christ are seated together at His table; a table that stretches over 2000 years from the cross to this present hour. We are One Body, One family at One table with the bread and the cup set before us. And shall we, then, desecrate this Holy place by engaging in a food fight?

How our gracious Host is grieved in His heart, and His wounds bleed afresh at our despicable expressions of hate.

Reminds me of this, wherein men also cared more for themselves than for Him:

Thy rebuke hath broken His heart,
He is full of heaviness,
He is full of heaviness,
Thy rebuke hath broken His heart.

He looked for some to have pity on Him,
But there was no man,
Neither found He any,
To comfort Him.

He looked for some to have pity on Him,
But there was no man,
Neither found He any,
To comfort Him.

--Handel, Messiah

Poor Billy Graham has lost his mind!
His son needs to tell him to fully retire and wait on the Lord.
God bless you, Billy.

Private debate is much different than public slander.

And private counselling of friends who are wayward is much different than public promotion of them and their lifestyles. BTW, slander is something untrue. No one is questioning things Billy Graham thinks, or his intentions - only what he SAID, and HAS said about other similar issues.

I said it earlier, more diplomatically, but let me say it more emphatically: None of you naysayers measure up to his ministry and accomplishments

Fine. I am not try to measure up to Billy Graham's accomplishments.

So I assume you cannot answer my questions about what the Master said makes someone great in His Kingdom, and whether by the MASTER'S statement if Billy Graham so qualifies.

Sorry, but all personal insults aside - it does not matter how many times someone has preached, or how many people they have "won to the L-rd" - what matters is what the Master says - and He is no respecter of persons.

Many will tell me in that day, 'L-rd, Lo-rd, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works? [preach a lot of crusades]' Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.' "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man...Matt 7:22-24

This is my understanding of Slander= dibbah (Hebrew)

whispering, defamation; defaming; evil report; unfavorable saying

Reference in use below:

Pro 10:18 He that hideth hatred [with] lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, [is] a fool.

This is my understanding of Slander= dibbah

Dibah is the statement of a false report for the purpose of effecting an opinion of another. A false report in this matter would be something akin to suggesting that the reason that Mr. Graham condones Bill Clinton's immorality is because [fill in the blank]. No one that I know is suggesting WHY Graham has repeatedly spoken in FAVOR of Bill Clinton even WITHIN the context of his adulteries. Rather, simply that such actions to not further the Gospel, and in fact are demonstrably unbiblical. Loving sinners and working with them is something we are all called to do.

Having said that, the fact that one APPEARS to love sinners does not mean you are right (after all, prostitutes take care and love each other as well). No, the issue is not how he has shown love for the Clintons, but whether it was a biblical way of showning love: where one privately rebukes a friend - and never publicly endorses someone who continues in unrepentent sin.

If speaking of this is slander, then you are going to have to rip a lot of pages from your Bible.

What would you then do when you combine John 3:16-18 and Acts 4:12. Would that mean we should not tell people the name, because then they are responsable. Ignorance then equals heaven?

I dont doubt that,
However, this demonstrates a considerable decline in Prodestent theology. If the target is off at the top, what is it like at the bottom?

David was still saved the same way. Faith in the messiah. If you want to be technical, christians are grafted into the house of isreal. Not the other way around. Read Romans 11

I tend toward a Calvinistic view, whereas we are all dead in sin. God through his mercy and grace choses whom he will save. He reaches down and touches our hearts to breathe life into us. It is strictly in Gods hands, not ours. This is also a traditional view.

God is a God of Justice - - and the wages of sin are death - this is just. Only through accepting Jesus, are our sins forgiven (so it says in scripture.)

I have escaped the grasp of a so-called church that teaches that through Jesus' suffering in Gethsemene, salvation is given to all mankind...but in order to dwell again with God we must do perfect works. This is blaspheme. Gods grace is therefore very sweet to me.

I know not, the mind of God, but am satisfied that through believing in Jesus I am saved. I also know that the greatest commandment is this: "to love the Lord with all your heart."

I have read many quotes from Billy that were questionable at best, so this is not a shock to me. Schuller is a new ager big time.

Forgive me for correcting you on a public forum but you are not speaking for Catholics. Get a "Catechism of the Catholic Church" which contains the teachings of the Church, with that before you,you will know what Catholics believe and can tell others.

When you post misinformation you confuse people and that does not help one single soul ad has the potential to harm some.
