Dear President Bush, this is to inform you of my decision to retire from my position as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, effective upon the nomination and confirmation of my successor. It has been a great priviledge indeed to have served as a member of the Court for 24 Terms.
I will leave it with enormous respect for the integrity of the Court and its role under our constitutional structure.
Sincerely,
Sandra Day O'Connor

Here's your retirement gift O'Connor. Middle Finger Up!
I've got two words for you Mr. President...Michael Luttig
Except when international law says something else.

This is the main reason I voted for Bush--JUDGES. I hope he doesn't disappoint.

Janice Rogers Brown, baby.
Let's see them Bork her.
Imagine how insane the DUers would be if she got nominated and confirmed to SCOTUS? Two black conservatives (and one a woman) on the court would drive them nuts!
Is that standard?
Personally, it would be alright with me to let the dems filibuster and keep her seat empty.

She actually ruled in dissent on the eminent domain ruling. Better check your facts.
Her respect for the integrity of the Constitution and the Court was sorely missiing in many of her decisions.

I don't like O'Connor as a jurist, but mostly because of her opinion in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, and similarly weak "logic."
But in the recent [New London] takings case, she wrote the dissent that noted the risks inherent in a broad interpretation of the phrase "public use."
Bush should consider nominating someboody the Dems already let through as a circuit court judge...
then it would be hard for them to claim extraordinary circumstances.
"Priviledge"? What's that, an outhouse on a rock outcropping? That's the FOXnews spelling, but I wonder if it's in the original?
