LOL!!! Check out the C-span call #'s LIBERAL
CONSERVATIVE
MODERATE
Maybe we should do some "seminar calling" of our own, and call up on the Liberal line and say: "I'm a lifelong liberal and have voted for McGovern, Dukakis, and Kerry... but I'm sick of the politics that my people in Washington are playing. The Supreme Court nomination is too important to play filibuster games with - if the Democrats in Congress filibuster, then I'll never vote for a Democrat again."

You've used up all your last straws.....

Actually, it is Friday. A Friday before a three day weekend. No one announces any thing serious they want the public to know about on a Friday.

What happens if Rehnquist announces his retirement soon?
The democrats will find themselves in a politically untenable position if they drag their feet, IMHO.

Many reasons why you don't announce right away...
1. Give O'Connor a few moments in the sun. Let the editorials and accolades flow.
2. More importantly, time the announcement on your terms, not the press' and not the democrats'. There's some talk about waiting for a while, because Congress will go into Summer recess soon and any nominee will be sitting out there like a pinata for months before the hearings and voting begin. On the other hand, you many want to get the name out there so the opposition fires their guns prematurely and the dust has time to settle.
Regardless, he doesn't need to do anything today. He has multiple names (primary + backups)...he'll announce the person when he's ready.

I wonder how many last straws postings we are going to see?? Oh you'll see plenty and it will be from the same people who say everything President Bush does is the "last straw" for them.

If wishes were last straws, Freepers would fly.....or something like that.....
I'm glad to see O'Connor go...she was the weakest link in terms of intellect, as far as I could see. I hope it will be Miguel Estrada, but I trust the Prez to do the right thing.

I can't validate it, but everything I've read says Gonzalez is pro-choice.

I wonder how many last straws postings we are going to see? As many as you want to see.
FWIW, I find them, and the responses to them, to be generally useless blather.
