Hearing on Fox News
The ones that seem to think that Gonzalez will be the pick, have a couple reasons that they all say...
The President Bush tends to reward friendship and Gonazalez has been his friend for a long time...and he left the Supreme Court of Texas to go to Washington with Bush...
The President (they say) wants to be the first to name a hispanic,
and, they think that since Gonazalez has already gone through confirmation process and been confirmed once, he would have the easiest time being confirmed...
Mostly, I think it is wishful thinking on the Media's part, because he is more liberal than the other ones that may be on the list..
I hope DeWine got the message, but Ohio scares me we could end up with a Dem, time will tell! I hope they got it! We need to gain not lose seats in 2006 and 2008. I would ,love to see less than 40 Democrats on the Senate.
Why would you possibly posit that Bush would nominate Elton John or Elton John's boyfriend?
Where did that come from?
If Dewine wants to keep his Senate seat he better tow the line and forget about the McCain Caucus.
Thanks Tex I will have to tape, I am guessing that is 11 Eastern?
Complete nonsense that deserve no serious rebuttal.
If Bush picks a good one, then I'd expect those seven to get allergic. I hope he's more concerned about public pressure than that idiot senate.
I personally think NOW is the time for them to start itching. As to the latter, I am not interested in him being concerned about public pressure. As I stated, until and IF he violates his solid judicial record I give the President the benefit of the doubt that his position on the court is my own. Were this about spending, illegal immigration etc...his record would determine he not be granted the benfit of the doubt until action determined otherwise.
Impeachment? I look to the long record held by rehnquist and he's proven to be solidly in the Thomas/Scalia camp in rulings. That is my primary concern. I fault Congress for the impeachment proceedings. They did as they willed, rhenquist or no.
Elton John has long been considered as a possible nominee by the Bush administration. He is widely respected as a strict constructionist.
/s
What are you talking about?
Yeppers!!!!
I don't know what DeWine will do....his family paid a price for DeWine's weenieness...
But, Graham DIDN'T learn a lesson, IMHO...I read last night that he and McCain, and Warner are forming a group to push for a NEW committee to study and investigate Gitmo, and Abu Ghraib and come up with NEW guidelines and procedures for interrogation and holding of terrorists...
They want to take the decisions OUT of the Pentagon's pervue and give it to themselves!!!!
Graham honestly believes that all will be forgotten by 2008. He's got Beltway Fever.
I agree with you! I cannot see it being Gonzales and the media is pushing him as probably the least conservative of the group I have seen mentioned.
I think if he was going to pick someone that was a friend it would be Owen from the Texas Supreme Court who was recently confirmed. Gonzales just got to DOJ and it is too important of job to change the Attorney General this quick.
Have a feeling it will be a woman to replace the first woman that was put on the Court. I think the names floating were for Renquist who everyone assumed would be the first to resign from SCOTUS.
Yeah, I agree.
I don't trust DeWine or the seven AT ALL.
And I do agree Ohio will turn Dem if the Republican Party in Ohio doesn't get its act together, start governing more conservatively, lower taxes and clean up the corrupt.
I do not believe Ohio's primary turn to Dems is because they are all becoming Liberal. That may be it in part as people move in, but it is partly being driven by the decay of the Party in power. Which in Ohio, is Republican. If a Party is corrupt, what do you do? You turn to the other. Well, unless you are New Jersey. However they can be slightly forgiven as apparently the Reps in that state are indistinguishable from the Democrats.
I heard about this, how do we stop them? How do I Have to contact?
I think we need to contact our Senators, and maybe let Tony Snow and Laura Ingraham know...they have a way of getting these sneaky little things get a lot of media play...
Why those three continue to believe that they have the right to make decisions for 97 other Senators is beyond me!
I am for it, I will e-maail my Pubbie and Tony!
If Rehnquist retires then they can both join in!
Chief Justice Roy Moore, sounds great...
Janice Brown is perfect to replace O'Clowner...
I am watching Hardball still no Allen!
Thanks for the ping!
Al smells like a Tony Kennedy.
