Actually, I'm laughing at you who take internet arguing so seriously.

Over in Farkland, where I also dwell, there is a saying:
"Arguing over the Internet is like running a race in the Special Olympics: even if you win, you're still retarded."

Farkland is a harsh place, but there's wisdom in that statement.

Thanks for hanging in on this SS. The whining and carping around here is embarrassing. And self destructive.

I thought the President did a fine job this morning dealing with the things within the context of the guest he had by his side. If had run on Illegal Immigration, and then reneged, I would be much harder on him. But I listened pretty close and didn't hear a word about it, so I am only going to hold him to the promises he actually made.

There is one thing about the guy—like him or hate him, there is no question about his stances.

Farkland sounds like a place where you'd be happy.

BTW, I'm not arguing with myself; you're playing right along, too.

Arguing is all the fun. In the past few days, I've been involved in threads about martial arts, science fiction, archaeology, and they're all cool. But making bots angry is what satisfies on a hot afternoon.

The President put his entire Presidency on the line for the WOT. He expends his personal time visiting them under condition those visits not be publicized. He seeks the funding for the equipment they need. He listens to the people in the field rather than to to micromanage every military action. Recognizing the need for a stronger PR offensive he has increased his speeches on Iraq the last few weeks. He has sent Cheney and karl out there. he is going to speak to the nation Tuesday. he is working to help speed the ability of Iraqi's to govern and defend themselves. All of this equates to actions that will lead to a stronger military, a military that knows it's C-I-C will back them even at cost of an election, a C-I-C that won't back down to polls but instead come before the nation to defend the work they have done. This is a man that has shown his personal and political support of the military at cost and shown NO regret for having done so.

For the record I have never stated I didn't see a connection between the WOT and immigration. You mistakenly believe my heated response is a reflection of a different attitude on that score. It is not. My response is inspired by witnessing a media and a political party attempting to dishonor these men and woman, a coalition attempting to create in Iraq what they did in 'Nam.

Support of this President in the offensive being planned to combat the actions of the Dems & the MSM I find essential at this period in time. It doesn't mean to support his immigration policy, it means in a thread such as this one the highest person advancing defense of our military and actions in Iraq NEEDS backup. On this there should be unity. Not distration with a side issue that can be addressed adequetely with heart in numerous other threads.

It's great what you are doing on your own in your personal life to help our troops BUT they need help in the PR war and that is not what they have received in this thread. The subject became about Bush and immigration, rather than the realities unreported in Iraq....the necessity of the mission..and attempts of certain party and newss to defeat them.

You're sadly mistaken if you think you've angered me.

People who don't post the facts aren't worth the energy.

I am a woman. But your statement of "Five women marines" is wrong. One is either a Marine or not a Marine, Red, Yellow, Black, White, Man or Woman.

Any Marine death is tragic. These no more, or more less than the others. It is part of the job—and these women knew it, the men know it and I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice they ALL have made.

To separate them out by sex or any other "difference" is disrespectful and appalling.

I measure "angry" by how quickly my interlocutor responds to my pings, how many ad hominem attacks are made on me, and by the rhetorical fumes.

Bots always instantly respond, attack what they perceive as me, personally, and things get stinky around them.

Not that this describes yourself, of course.

Anyone "not" angry with me just dismisses me and goes away. I've done that to people who didn't amuse me, despite the apparent lack of internet courtesy in the act. There's no fun in it, though.

And, yes, Fark.com is my kind of place.

Well, that's cool. I think we're both 'heated' because we both DO give a damn about the country. I see your points re:Sticking to the topic, but it's impossible for me to not include "the big picture" when I discuss WOT. Regardless, thanks for your post and have a nice weekend.

He did run on an immigration policy I and others don't support, but absolutely correct. He was upfront about it. To act betrayed because the man honors his campaign platform would be hypocritical.

I disagree but I don't hate the man, nor believe him a Traitor to the United States. I voted for G.W. because I respect him, and because I agree more than disagree. If others cannot handle the fact it is possible to do both at same time that is their problem.

The President handled himself well today. He is seeking to take back the spin from those that would have us lose this war and dishonor our troops. he needs support. Support of the President, Our Commander-In-Chief, equates to support of thr troops as they share the same mission in Iraq. several people have let them down in this thread in their tunnel obsessed focus on immigration.

Exactly. I wish he had a tighter immigration policy also. But we can't accuse him of selling us a bill of goods. (In fact, despite my cheer leading I disagree with him quite a bit!) However I greatly admire him personally.

Anyway, I have always had a problem with folks who cannot understand the difference between supporting a person, and disagreeing with them. That also takes a self depreciating sense of humor, which he has.

Ironically, those qualities that help us make progress in business and politics are the ones that keep me happily married! Ha!

"Wasn't the forum for him to make such a remark."

The hell it wasn't.

This is the most fundamental right of Americans, the right to own property. He's pushed his so called "ownership society", and now he's silent. A REAL compassionate conservative would have came out IMMEDIATELY after this decision and condemned it. The lack of urgency speaks volumes.

"The only thing he seems to talk about is Social Security Reform"

Who cares about social security, after the land grab decision by the marxist supreme court. Property is about the only true asset many people have, and if they don't have that....then social security doesn't mean sh*t.

"You loved Reagan's amnesty policy????"

You can bet your a** that Reagan would have changed his mind after 9/11.

I sure hope you don't write letters to your marine full of these nasty remarks.

He might be better off without your "support" if you include this crap.

I'm sick and tired of all of you guys who insist on ruining every single thread on FR.

Nasty people. All of you thread hijackers. I'm glad I don't know any of you in person. Can't you leave this stuff on the threads it belongs on?

Don't even start with me, saying I'm a traitor or a liberal or a commie or any of the other shit you guys call everyone.

I care about the same issues, I'm just sick, sick, sick of all of you.

He can appoint members to the SCOTUS but he can't dictate what they do.

So he's not allowed to even comment on what they rule in a bitter and controversial 5-4 decision?

The president says he knows U-S troops have a difficult mission in Iraq against a bloodthirsty and determined enemy.

Our opponents do not realize one important fact. We either get the job done in Iraq now or we will go back there later and perhaps shed even more blood.

Terrorists aren't going to be happy with just Iraq. For them, it's Iraq today, and tomorrow the World!
