WHITE HOUSE President Bush is shrugging off the polls showing his job approval rating at low ebb. At a news conference with Iraq's visiting prime minister, Bush jokingly suggested the word "quagmire" to a reporter asking about a possible "second-term slump."
The president says he knows U-S troops have a difficult mission in Iraq against a bloodthirsty and determined enemy.
And he says on domestic issues, he's asking Congress to "take on some big tasks." He says he's not surprised his idea for a Social Security overhaul has met stiff resistance from lawmakers.
Bush added: "This is a time of testing. It's a critical time."
Anyathing said about the SCOTUS ruling?
From a President that allowed the Supreme idiots to decide on CFR? I doubt it.
Wasn't the forum for him to make such a remark.
However, he needs to recognize the immediacy of the issue and make a statement.
He loves doing interviews on FOX, the libs think that FOXNEWS is just his moutpiece anyway, he might as well do another interview on FOX and address property rights from the view of the executive branch.
Allow? Checks and balances.
He's the chief of the executive branch of government remember? He can appoint members to the SCOTUS but he can't dictate what they do. Hell, he's had a hard enough time appointing judges and dealing with judicial activism as it is.
From a President not asked at a forum designated for questioning on foreign policy with the Iraqi PM by his side? NO.
After years of dissipation, the real "quagmire" is Senator Kennedy's liver.
Bush added: "This is a time of testing. It's a critical time."

No s***! It a time to see if YOU will protect this country and re-establish its borders and immigration laws!!! Or will you fail your Presidential oath?
Remember, Bush one was also pro-illegals. He signed the legislation that allows up toward the millions of illegals to vote -- by PREVENTING voting facility personnel FROM ASKING if people are citizens, or born in the U.S., etc. -- as long as they produce a drivers license. This pro-illegal legistlation that Bush One signed, makes the only the barrier to illegals VOTING IN OUR ELECTIONS, your local Department of Motor Vehicles....
Is it not fair to say that the pro-illegal disease runs in the Bush family??? I would bet money on it, as well as my opinion that this is exactly why Tom Ridge resigned.
I heard that their would be an address by GWB next Tuesday about the Iraq war.
Oh I remember quite well, and he had pen in hand on CFR and instead of Vetoing it his response was to joke about it and hope that the Supremes would nix the unconstitutional parts. Now what does that tell you about him? Oh, and just in case as usual,
The President was GOOD today.
I realize those that fail to recognize the purpose of the FORUM he held are incapable of acknowledging his strong defense of our military and mission today, but I am not. Instead of making this about issues it did NOT concern it would be NICE if people would realize this President's comments need to be re-inforced to beat back the treason being committed by the Democrats. But that is just too damn much to ask of anyone? Isn't it.
Bash the President for not getting the message out on Iraq, and when he does, ignore the message and deflect to other issues.
"He loves doing interviews on FOX, the libs think that FOXNEWS is just his moutpiece anyway, he might as well do another interview on FOX and address property rights from the view of the executive branch."
Are you saying that Fox News was the only network covering this? That would say that the Liberal media is not taking this serious. Which is fine by me since the liberal media are in their death throes anyway as ratings indicate.
Since I consider him to be a puppet of the multinational corporatists,
my suspicion is that he'll appoint a "moderate" who would've agreed with this decision.
Afterall, it's all about Big Government being compliant with WTO objectives.
FYI: fake driver's licenses for illegals are going for $50 here in North Carolina. There are 1,000,000 illegal Mexicans in my state. You do the math. Why bother voting?
You're right. He needs to come out soon on this and strong.
nick
?????? Don't think I know what you mean? Bush needs to come out strong on the SCOTUS ruling. Like within the next 48 hours.

I'm sure it makes liberals explode in rage.
Why? What good would that do? Now that SCOTUS has made its dumb ruling, there's more pressure for reform of the bench. Hence, the Dems won't be able to filibuster his next appointment, Atilla the Judge.
Bush did, I feel, a great job in his first term.
He ran a great campaign for his Second Term.
Now he seems to have taken on the roll of a true "lame duck".
The only thing he seems to talk about is Social Security Reform when more pressing issues are at hand.
Again, I agree with his Social Security proposals. But the problem is far in the future, and if the Dems want to screw around and do nothing - not even offer a counterproposal - the heck with it. It will come back in the future to bite THEM in the butt.
Meanwhile in order to stablize his victory in Iraq, shore up democratic movements in the Middle East and forstall terrorism, he needs to do something about the Syrians and Iranians who are slipping non-Iraqi terrorists into Iraq to create havoc and attempt to undo our successes there.
If we pull out and the Ayatollahs and Syrian Baathists are still inpower - we lost.
He needs to address the looming threats from Red China and North Korea (and I don't mean by bribing them with food tribute to behave).
And domestically, it is infinitely more important to get strict constructionist judges in the federal courts - and I don't mean that loser Gonzales, get Bolton into the U.N. or totally drop all representation and support for it, and stop the hemorrhaging of our borders and get off the "guest peasant" program.
Finally, to soldify his gains, he should be giving positive coverage opportunities to a successor - someone other than John Judas McCain.
