I'm sure this has already been pointed out, but just in case it wasn't...
PVDS was evidently a gambler and may be carrying a large debt he's desperate to pay. Add that to the desperate feelings a man, the provider of his family, may have after being told he just wasted the last few years of his life and now has no job, no income, and status as a "failure" among his peers.
Desperate men sometimes do desperate things. Does anyone here seriously entertain the thought that he would become involved in mob/smuggling/human trafficking activity to pay his debts and avoid losing his shirt?
Also, Rudy Croes is in a family that has been accused of being heavily involved in mafia activity. The week before Nat disappeared, PVDS went to Croes to ask what he could do to pay his bills. I saw the Geraldo interview, and I didn't see Rudy Croes indicate that he gave PVDS any hope of obtaining any type of government job. It was what Rudy didn't say that stood out to me.
Something in my head keeps going "ding, ding, ding" and it won't stop. ;-)
If this scenario is true and I was Paulus Van der sloot, I would be very scared right now. For that matter, Rudy Croes would have a reason to be a little worried, too.
Nita Nupress thanks for the info on JM Croes.
Just a word about Rudy Croes; while I was reading the CTV boards last night, they kept saying that Rudy had been unreliable in the past -- and that he was the one who first said that Natalee was dead and had to retract it.
I couldn't find a link or a quote anywhere over there to back it up, but I saw more than one person say he wasn't reliable.
For some reaon, when I watch those Arbuan government people talking, I keep thinking of that character Martin Short use to play on Saturday Night Live, the one that was sweating all the time and being interviewed by a "Mike Wallace" actor. I can never tell whether they are spouting the government line or covering their butts.
