Rudy Croes indicate that he gave PVDS any hope of obtaining any type of government job. It was what Rudy didn't say that stood out to me.

Rudy did or didn't give PVDS any hope of obtaining a govt job? Your post isn't very clear.

If this scenario is true and I was Paulus Van der sloot, I would be very scared right now. For that matter, Rudy Croes would have a reason to be a little worried, too.

You may be onto something, but please explain in a little more detail.

Sorry. Let me try again.

This was someone's description of Geraldo's interview with Rudy Croes, the Prime Minister of Aruba, followed by my speculation:

(Geraldo speaking) Rudy Croes also asked me to stress that the father (JVDS) is not a judge, he is a FAILED judge. He applied to the authorities in the mother country of the Netherlands in Holland to become a judge, he was TURNED DOWN, so just ironically a week before before Natalee disappeared on the 29th/30th of May, just a week before that Paulus had been to see Rudy Croes asking for a job and they were trying to figure out what the father could do for a living now that the father has been TURNED DOWN to be a judge.

Okay, we know that PVDS is a gambler.  Gambler's often have heavy gambling debts.

Not only is PVDS out of a well-paying, esteemed job, but he has also wasted 15 years of his life by failing the test.  This is a big loss for someone.  He has lost his income and possibly his self-esteem and his self-respect.  He may see himself as a failure in front of his colleagues.  He may even be under pressure to pay some gambling debts that he owes.

All of the above circumstances may lead a weaker man to become desperate and do things that he normally wouldn't do -- things that are illegal and immoral.  Human trafficking activity comes to mind.

This theory is "pretty far out there" when viewed with Occam's razor, but according to some reports, the Croes family has a long history of mafia activity.

About Rudy Croes and his interview with Geraldo:

According to Rudy, PVDS had a meeting with Rudy to see if there was any kind of government job he could do other than be a judge.  It seems to me that if PVDS had been given a legitimate job during that meeting, Rudy would have said something about it during Geraldo's interview.  For example, "Yes Geraldo, we discussed him working in the Accounting office" or something similar.

Instead, Rudy Croes left it hanging, giving the viewer (i.e., me) the impression that Rudy Croes didn't have a job for PVDS.  Also, I got the distinct impression that Rudy was trying to distance himself from PVDS. (That would be understandable, though, so it isn't suspicious in itself).

Anyway, I am wondering how the conversation transpired during PVDS's meeting with Rudy (yes, I know, this is a stretch):

PVDS:  Mr. Croes, I am looking for a job.  I have given 15 years of service to the Aruban government and I was wondering if you know of any job openings.  What can I do?!

Rudy: Hmmm.... Well, Paulus, I'm not aware of any openings in the court system, none with a comparable salary, anyway.

PVDS:  But Rudy, I have huge gambling debts.  How will I pay them?!  I am ruined!

Rudy:  Welllll.... Well, there is something that you could do, but... but.... No, never mind.

PVDS:  What?!  What is it?

Rudy:  Well, there is a wealthy retired businessman in Thailand (or wealthy sheik in Saudi, take your pick) who has been looking for a young blonde...

If the above scenario is anywhere close to being true, then Rudy Croes would be very nervous right now that PVDS will talk.  If PVDS talks, he may have enough information to reveal a lucrative smuggling operation, with Rudy Croes right at the center.  (Everyone in Aruba probably knows about the drug smuggling already.  Our government does.)

If the above scenario is true, PVDS may be scared that he or his son (or other family members) will end up being decapitated like the poor fellow last week.
