DESPITE THE continuing gripes of his critics, records released this week show that Senator John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam. The documents should put to rest claims that Kerry misrepresented his military record in the presidential race. But Kerry's failure to respond to the smear campaign launched against him last summer lent credibility to its real objective: to impugn his equally honorable opposition to the war.
John O'Neill, a Houston lawyer and Kerry's adversary on the war since 1971, acknowledged as much in a telephone interview Wednesday. ''We produced seven commercials," he said of his anti-Kerry group, now called Swift Vets and POWs for Truth. ''Only one dealt with Vietnam activities." O'Neill was incensed by Kerry's memorable testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971, in which the young veteran, clad in a combat shirt, criticized the war.
Kerry has said that he may have used a poor choice of words when he cited other veterans' reports of atrocities as being ''in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan." But his basic analysis was sound: Vietnamese and Americans were dying needlessly because the war was a mistake, and US policymakers allowed it to continue even though they were aware that their strategy for victory was failing.

Now, the Globe has been (ever so willingly) had again by John F'n Kerry. Don't these Boston morons even know that the blogosphere exists? If so, they'd know that Kerry released less than all his records, and only to one newspaper. Sheee-ut Boston, that alone shoulda been a clue that you were expected to bend over and write a slobber-chinned editorial just like you did.
Keep in mind that the Globe is owned by the NY Times. How singularly appropriate.

O'NEILL: ...None of us will ever forget the day Kerry testi-fied before Congress. It was like the Kennedy assassination.
And so we just couldn't live in the United States if we didn't make a statement about his testimony in 1971...."
The Air National Guard flew over 30,000 combat sorties over Viet Nam.
Kerry chose Swift Boats because he thought they would be away from the action. When the Swiftboats were re-tasked for litoral comabt support, Kerry started faking his Purple Hearts to get back stateside.
"They also said he was in Cambodia 1n Dec 1968"
No, that was originally claimed by Kerry himself he wrote to the BG's rival, the Boston Herald. See how sloppy you are with facts?
A lot of these cockamamie theories about Kerry's paperwork arose from the dates on his paperwork. For instance, why is so much of his paperwork (commendations) dated years after the fact.
Well, it turns out that the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO had a little fire in 1973 and 16-18 million Official Military Personnel Files were destroyed.

Granted they were largely Army and Air Force, but it's possible some of Kerry's records might have been destroyed. I'm not making excuses. Just noting that it's something that has never been brought up around here.
But why not do a FOIA yourself? Kerry's signed the 180. It might be possible to get the records--or at least force him to deny them to the public. Or write Kranisch and ask him if he could send you a copy of the form 180?
Why just endless post the same stuff? Especially when it is based--like the theories about the dishonorable discharge--on pure conjecture? And flies in the face of all of the available evidence?

How do you know?
intelligent response; would you like to refocus on the point?
John Kerry was dishonorably dismissed from the Navy:

hey, knock it off. The kitties are coming. Newbies are never to disrespect their betters.
He wasn't there. He is posting a theory. Based on nothing that I can see. Even Carter's "amnesty" was for draft dodgers, not for military dishonorably discharged.
And this gentleman is the only "source" for this theory. Don't you think if it was true there wouldn't be quite a few people who would have remembered--and long before now?
Get real.
is that what we are even arguing? the points we are making are valid regardless of when we signed up on this website; i guess this childish argument should not surprise me considering what the original post was
It also tries to put forth the lies that 'the VN war was 'bad'', that Kerry was a hero for his disloyalty, and that GW was a hypocrite.
Lemme at 'em.
Not sure why you want to step a toenail into what Tonk knows and many Knew ago and to what effect "let's just all get along" has to continuation of Fact. The Links are there the research has been done. A "senator" of such unfounded grace still lives behind his mystery like those of untransferred POWs by which he helped kill in his position. To many, his existence in that body is a disgrace and one vote certain to be against this Country's best interests.Let's just "move on" you might say.
what do these lame websites accomplish? this is a democracy vote him out

Kerry's Discharge Is Questioned by An Ex-JAG Officer
http://www.nysun.com/article/4040
"There is overwhelming evidence that the Navy gave John Kerry either a dishonorable discharge
or an undesirable discharge which is the equivalent of a dishonorable discharge
without the felony conviction and that, as a result of such discharge,
he was stripped of all of his famous but questionable Navy awards and medals.
And the kicker? The evidence is on his website!"
