I recently signed up to participate in the forums at FreeRepublic. I used the userid "littlealex". I
was a member for approximately 48 hours before I was forbidden from further posting. I was labelled
a troll. I read the forums for about two years before I thought I might try my hand at
participation. This message will likely be removed shortly after posting, so I may as well be brief. This is not a
discussion forum. Any conservative thought outside of a limited spectrum of neoconservative,
speialized extremist thought is prohibited. The moderators and members have no interest in
thoughtful discourse, just solicitations for cronyistic "ditto"s and "me too" replies. I am very
disappointed. I have been doing reading on the internet and have found a great number of banned
folks who commited no great offense other that to disagree with the *exact* philosophy of the
moderators. You are a bunch of mindless zombie "yes-men." You would not know an original thought if
it slapped your mother in the face. Further, if you believe yourselves to be conservatives, you are sadly mistaken. You are a faction of
extreme republicans who have little in common with the true conservative movement. Your beliefs are
so weak and ill-conceived that any attempt to discuss them in real capacity is met with anger,
derision, and ultimately, censorship. Very sad.
Up yours, and goodbye.

Bush may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but he has my vote for decency. I just wonder why he sucks up to the Clintoons.
Little alex isn't the only one who thinks their posting privileges were unfairly taken away. A few weeks ago, I posted a brief article followed by a letter I had written in response to it. It was the first time I had started a thread - or whatever the technical term is - but my feelings about it were very strong and in the short time it was there I got some gratifying responses. The moderator changed the name of my post and I sent a reply to him asking him if he could please put Dan Rather's name back in the title - the one that shows up in the listing of articles after you first sign in - as I thought it would generate more interest that way. I then got a response from the moderator saying my posting privileges had been revoked because of multiple accounts. I immediately responded telling him I didn't have multiple accounts, and that if he would please check he would see that I had simply changed my screen name - i think maybe two times - until I came up with the one I liked - and didn't know it would constitute breaking the rules even if I did. I got no answer from him, and in the following days when I could find the time emailed Jim, emailed some other moderators and never got a response - in all of my emails I was respectful and asked them to please check my posts as they were always what I considered respectful and contributory to the discussion at hand. No one ever responded to me and I am still suspended. At first, I was devastated, and I think that maybe that is what "little alex" is feeling - men just have different ways of expressing their emotions and I too went online - mostly looking for an email address or someone I could contact about this - and also encountered posts from what seemed to be a lot of thoughtful people that also had been banned. The only sense I can make of this is either Free Republic is extraordinarily arbitrary and arrogant in the way they treat their members - or newbies as I am - or maybe because of the nature of my post I was seen as some sort of Islamic terrorist sympathizer because I was responding to an article in the foreign press and spoke so strongly about the Iraqi people - even though I have the same even stronger feelings about our GI families - and living in Florida have what I consider the great earthly honor of knowing and caring for many of them. I am just simply a physician who knows too well and has seen too too too often the violence we humans - red, black, white, purple - everywhere, anywhere - and in frightening variety - can inflict upon ourselves and each other - in a million different ways each and every day - and my motivation in writing was - not only to confront the brutality and waste - but the fact it never seems to bother the media ever. I have started a new account on a different computer in order to post this and am sure it will be deleted quite soon but I wanted to address this. I started coming to FR during the first Bush campaign for the Prayer List - it was part of my morning prayer routine to come in agreement with faith for all the needs there - and to pray with so many others for GW - and only recently have had free time enough to actually participate. Even though I am banned it is still the first place I go to - I only have time for the news and activism section - still the place I get valuable insights - some of which I agree with, some not, but all interesting - and funny! The one good thing about this entire episode is I have found other sites with equally good and knowledgeable people and thoughts - many who used to frequent FR but found it changing from what it had originally been. I don't really know what that is - but I do know - and have found - many sites out there where management seems more considerate and respectful of the many misunderstandings and things that can go wrong in a large forum without jumping to conclusions or failing to answer emails containing legitimate questions and requests. I am hoping that Free Republic won't become as bureaucratic, unresponsive, clique-ish and arrogant as the media they so often - and so wonderfully - cause so much trouble for - but for now, all of you are just the extraordinary best and I want to thank each of you so much for taking the time to share parts of yourselves - I don't think you will ever know how much you have taught us unrefined political types how to navigate the terrain. God Bless. One Heart aka Sugarplumsweety.
It is sweet when people offer themselves up for sacrifice.
Only an idiot would cut and past this over to LP.
Thats highly improbable if so mr troll how do you explain me being here im no one never have been never will be and some of my post are the most outrageous seen here ?
You must have been an extremely nasty person lacking in intesinal fortitude to have been zotted and trolled!
All the good ZOTS are lovingly delivered from the hands of The Emperor hisself!
Sincerely,

and goodbye
Are we really allowed to Opus on our first day? I thought that was reserved for long time folks.
Yeah, right. This must be code for 'I got banned for posting anti-war or weirdo anti-Bush stuff.' Most of the people here aren't neo-anything.
Maybe its talkin to itself...
That happens once in awhile.
