Today, May 26, 2005, the American public and people all over the world witnessed a spectacle on the floor of the US Senate. A US Senator from Ohio, Senator Voinovich, broke down on the floor of the Senate and cried as he expressed his opposition to President Bush's nomination for UN Ambassador, John Bolton. In his impassioned and (apparently) sincere plea, he cried and told America and the world how he was unwilling to "risk" our representation at the UN to Mr. Bolton, and how he, Senator Voinovich feared for his children and grandchildren.
Apparently in considering Mr. Bolton, Senator Voinovich was not present at the confirmation hearings where Bolton testafied and has not met with Mr. Bolton. This alone makes one suspicious of the true nature of today's spectacle.
But, a grandfather fearing for his children and grandchildren is not something to take lightly or cavalierly dismiss. As the father of five children, and the grandfather of three grandchildren with a fourth on the way, I know this to be true. So, I wanted, grandfather to grandfather...father to father...to respond to Senator Voinovich.
I understand his feelings. I too fear for my children and grandchildren.
But I do not fear having a man such as John Bolton as our Ambassador...I fear NOT having a man such as Mr. Bolton as our Ambassador to the UN.

I don't mind if he ticks off and is threatening to much more than half of that body. They need to be placed on notice and they need a good dose of the fear of God when it comes to their attacks on and attempts to undermine the US.
Oh, and one more thing a spellchecker may not catch: His name is spelled "Voinovich". Several times you spelled it "Voinovitch".

I second that. But how many of them even believe in a creator let alone thinks HE will judge them some day.
Such fear needs to be instilled particularly into these diplomatic high rollers at the UN who have become so corrupt and arrogant in their Anti-Americanismwhile living on our very shores..

I'm with you on that. Hopefully the very fact that GWB choose John Bolton, will signal the anti-American scum at the UN, they must start to shapen up. Of course this is all a joke, because, he is history once his term expires. The UN will continue getting away with whatever they want, with little or no opposition from the next POTUS and Congress.
But at least Bolton will stay in place for a long time, and perhaps do some good.
We need to work with some other country...like Taiwan, or some other...and introduce a treaty to pull out of the UN. Boy would the fur fly over that!

Problem is it is not so easy to break the San Francisco Treaty that formed the UN in a official capacity. The world would cry fowl play. And don't they actually owned the land at this point? I believe clever John D. Rockefeller provided the land with legals to make it UN property. If so, how do you boot em off our shores?

Emminent domain...hehehe! Put an anti-terror HQ there for Homeland Security. Pay them for the land and send them packing.

I agree totally, Jeff. Ohio better start looking for a MAN to represent them in the Senate. Shameful display! It will be a pity if John Bolton doesn't get that position. We need someone up there at that obscene hell hole called the UN, that will kick "arse" and ask questions later.

Wish I could be down in Texas at my father's grave...he was my inspiration and as good an example of a patriot, loving father and grandfather, honorable christian and World War II combat veteran (PTO) as one could hope to have. We miss him, but know where he is and will join him there some day in the Lord's own time.
In the mean time, we stand for liberty, the constitution and our heritage.
