Bolton fails to get the 60 votes to invoke cloture. Dem filbuster is on.
I'm amazed at these people who claim to be so politically savie, but can't grasp simple math.
Why doesn't he run for the *Democratic* nomination? Too conservative for the Democrat base?
Very well stated -- feel like I have been shouting that from the rooftops for the last few days on here.
I live in Oklahoma with two of the most Conservative Senators so why should they be punished because of something McLame and his McLemmings did. We need more conservative Senators. Asked the other days how many people yelling the loudest had been in the trenches working to elect conservatives in their States and received no replies.
That doesn't take account a potential for maverick Democrats voting with the GOP though...
Makes you wonder about these people -- lack of math skills and reading comprehension -- that tells me that they defintely not conservatives that have waited years to have this many conservatives in the Senate -- we are really close to have 50 conservatives and they want to blow it. Tells me they are here to stir up trouble, but it is not working very well as they out themselves.
The revenge of President Bush is coming very soon and many a** holes will suffer.
Never listen to what a politician says. They're trained to deceive.
ALWAYS watch what they do. Actions speak louder then words.
Make them accountable for their deeds!
same here.
Is there a chance that getting over the top could require conservative DINO's?
LOL!!! Speaking of that -- light tornado season here in OK this spring. Knock on wood!
My neighbor used to intern for McLame when he first started....he has nothing nice tosay about him except that he was idealistic when first arriving in DC.....now he is just power hungry.
BTW, the one thing the "compromise" does with regard to Bolton is make a Constitutional Option with regard to ambassador nominees be a bit more "surprising" should it happen. It would be nice to see, say, Graham and DeWine pull a technicality on the RATs and the LeftStream Media.
My friends, I apologize. I was one of the Freepers who was optimistic about the judges deal. Although I supported the constitutional option, I thought the filibuster deal would bring new bi-partisanship.
Boy was I wrong!
Democrats are proving that they can still press the button when they need to. And we better believe that they will for Supreme Court nominees.
I apologize. I was wrong.
Nuclear option all the way!
Absolutely not! There can never ever be a "moderate party". Moderates don't believe ANYTHING. They are just wishy-washy appeasers who must cling to people who stand for something to be sucessful. What would their platform be? Maybe this, "I don't know and I don't care"?
'Ya mean rats are going to shut down government anyway, even though Republicans didn't exercise the nuclear option?!
To FR, only one year, to be a loyal Repulican, my entire adult life-about 36 years.
It's still a strange statement for a FReeper.
I think it does require some conservative DINO's that you have to wonder why they are still in the Dem Party. Ben Nelson being one of those. We need 60 and only have 55 Republican Senators. If we had two more the three Dems would have ended the debate.
You can't trust any of them.
Most Americans are moderates. (And, no, that doesn't mean they don't know what they think). The Dems have gotten so Liberal that the moderates are voting GOP. If the GOP leaders decided to take a hard Conservative line, the Dems just might go back to clintoon-style triangulation, which gets them the moderate votes.
But, yes, if both parties decided to take the extreme view, a third party would have a very good chance. It would just need a leader, and one could emerge.
Keep knocking :-) (they've been north, which doesn't bode well for June when they're most numerous here). Had a couple "close" calls in 2000 (if the one on Ash Wednesday had come down a few minutes earlier, I probably would've been staring at it instead of thinking "if that green sky had come here a few minutes later....",)
