Question: if the Republicans were to be conservative-only, the Democrats would likely counter to be liberal-only and that creates a boundary line. What would happen to the moderates, do they form a 3rd party?

Absolutely not! There can never ever be a "moderate party". Moderates don't believe ANYTHING. They are just wishy-washy appeasers who must cling to people who stand for something to be sucessful. What would their platform be? Maybe this, "I don't know and I don't care"?

I think you listen to Rush too much. There are a lot of opinionated moderates. Calling them "wishy-washy" or "RINOs" or other derogatory names is not helpful. Not everyone agrees with Rush 100%. Maybe you do, and that is fine, but if the only people you want in the GOP are people who agree with Rush, you are going to have a minority party.
