Bolton fails to get the 60 votes to invoke cloture. Dem filbuster is on.
Joe Scarborough...who is as big a RINO as McCain and Lindsey Graham....is just giddy about this.
No shock...since Scarborough stabbed republicans in the back when he was in office.
Frist needs to either end the filibuster next week, or step aside as majority leader.
McCain and Lindsey Graham tried to lie to people that Bolton was gonna get the nod, as a result of their deal to violate the constitution.
They need to go as well.
No one who even mentions Hillary and voting in the same sentence has a shred of conservatism in him......
I believe that's right. Revotes are pointless unless at least one person on the winning side has changed his mind, thus raising the possibility that the majority has flipped. The losing side on a vote is therefore not permitted to call for continuous revotes. To hold open the option of a motion to reconsider, someone has to cast a "wrong" vote. This duty often falls to the leadership.
That should read:
I have a feeling he failed to render a *sarcasm* tag.
Here's your answer:
"I hold here in my hand, the paper signed by myself and six other nitwits with our friends the DemocRATS, that guarantees Peace in Our Time."
John "Neville Chamberlain" McCain
I don't get it. Why would you make Conservatives pay for the actions of a few mccainiacs? There aren't >50 Conservatives in the Senate. What do you expect them to do?
We'd all be better off if we spent our time trying to get a majority of Conservatives in Congress rather than trying to punish the few who are already there.
Remember, just because someone is a Republican, they aren't necessarily Conservative.
Lieberman voted against Bolton, who's a critic of the UN. The UN that hates Israel. I'll never support Lieberman. Hannity's a huge loser if he does.
First got every single Republican vote for cloture today. What more do people expect from a majority leader? It takes 60 VOTES for cloture. There are only 55 Republicans in the Senate.
Either that or he to he an appeaser and afraid to go through with it.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh I'm sorry, were you serious?? Frist push the button?? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Graham and McCain both said the there was an "understanding" that Bolton was covered in good faith in their little "compromise".
Which says two things.
McCain was lying (no shock in that)
McCain was an idiot to think that the Dems would follow that "understanding" (McCain is an idiot....so everybody take their pick)
I agree with you on what has happened -- was just pointing out to the reading comprehension challenged freepers that the McLame agreement had nothing to do with anything but judges.
That said -- I personally think this is hilarious -- McLame and his smug little agreement is getting back now from the RATs and looks like an idiot for making any agreement. Been a couple of days since I saw anyone praise McLame on here so we are making progress at least on that front. I want him to have egg all over his face for going against Frist and the other 47 Republicans ready to vote for the Constitutional Option all to make himself look good. It makes him look like the fool he is -- grandstanding Senator who would turn on anyone if it suited his agenda. He has been a sell-out for years and now with media attention he is getting worse.
Would you like to know what I really think of McCain? :)
Bears repeating.
He's counting on being nominated by 'Rats crossing over to vote in the GOP primary. But there is NO WAY I would vote for him. I would sit home and let the Hildebeast win. At least there would be an enemy who was more honest about her intentions than McCainiac in the WH.
I'd like to see the Republicans push for a rule change requiring that anyone attempting a filibuster must actually speak. After all, the basis of the filibuster in the first place is that, in the name of "unlimited debate" senators are allowed to hold the floor for as long as they want to talk. The newfangled filibuster goes against tradition and has no justification.
Otherwise, I'd like to see Frist keep nominations at the front of the agenda until they get voted on. As majority leader, I think he should be able to do that.
Watch the GOP (or combined GOP + allies) get well over 60 seats next time around...
At this point, the Dems are just being a bunch of obstructionists, Frist, Nuke them or step aside for someone who will. I mean it folks, we should be emailing and calling Frist's office and telling him either go nuclear or step aside in favor someone who will.
What options have we?
