Today: Katie's Krokodile Tears [More Concern for Baby Alligator than Human Life]
The Today Show | governsleast governsbest

Posted on 05/26/2005 4:24:33 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

It was just a throw-away line on a throw-away filler piece. Yet in its own way it was deeply revealing of the liberal mindset.

At the end of its top-of-the-hour news recap, Today ran a piece about a Florida family that had found a small alligator lounging in its backyard swimming pool. Today aired footage of authorities roping and removing the reptile.

Katie then murmured "gee, I hope it will be released and be OK," with Matt Lauer ominously informing Katie that things sometimes don't work out too well for the alligator in such situations.

So there it was. Katie's crocodile tears for . . . a crocodile. OK, an alligator, but who's counting?

Yet another example of the liberal mindset at work. From snail darters to spotted owls to baby seals to alligators, liberal hearts bleed at the thought of any harm being done to animals.

But 40 million and counting babies aborted since Roe v. Wade? Hey, when's the next march where we can "celebrate a woman's right to choose"? Starving and dehydrating Terri Schiavo to death? Hey, her life wasn't meaningful anyhow.

I questioned how a story about an alligator relates to abortion and the Terri Schiavo story.

Look, sometimes on message boards, intentions can be misinterpreted. If you are being sincere, then I apologize to you for my being suspicious.

I can also explain the connection--to a lot of people, it is morally inconsistent to be in favor of abortion on demand, and yet be very concerned if seals are slaughtered or a tree is to be cut down.

I personally believe that all life is a gift and that people do not respect it. We don't respect human life, nor do we respect the environment.

And *I'll* shut up before I get called a Gaia-worshipper, LOL!

You and your friends are right, I am wrong ... let's leave it at that before someone contacts a moderator or whatever.

LOL! One poster calls you a troll and disruptor, and you run off the thread to sulk? You've got awful thin skin, soldier. How the heck are you going to best a liberal with an attitude like this?

Take your licks and shake hands with glgb - not this phony "you and your pals are ganging up on me". Gads! I hate to think that the new recruits from the repple-depple are all softies!

You must preach to the choir a lot.

LOL, I guess. :) I just wanted to come to the defense of someone (GLGB) who works hard here, day in and day out.

Anyway, now I really have to go, I have a CAT scan for my sinuses. I only had to wait six months for it, up here in good old Canada.

Whenever I have contact with the health care system up here, I miss the U.S. even more than usual.

You said: Eating meat is selfish and cruel, in their eyes. I wonder if they see having an abortion (as a moral choice, whether it's legal or not) the same way?

Of course, PETA folks don't take offense at an alligator eating meat, probably not even if it were the child of the homeowners in this case. I saw some footage of crocs in Africa catching wildebeasts as they crossed a river. Pretty loving creatures those crocs...

You are a bit of a newbie softwarecreator,

You are just as much of a newbie asd it shows in that you don't understand the focus of this thread.

If so many people think Couric is poison, why is she still spouting her mess on TV?

I'd say there is a range of explanations. For starters, there are still millions of liberals in this country, and they would tune in for daily affirmation.

I would suspect the majority of her audience, though, is not particularly political, and most of the show's liberal bias slips under their radar. They like what they see as the perky girl-next-door. Of course, her declining ratings suggest that many Americans are wising up to her act.

You won't be on FR much longer.

I'd bet on it.

Katie needs to come down here to Florida, buy a house on a lake or a canal, and then leave her dog (if she has one) tied up in the yard. It wouldn't be very long at all before she has a completely different view of alligators.

The focus of this thread was to show Katie's left wing tendencies and animal rights BS. I was agreeing with softwarecrator, that every time there is any thread regarding anything left wing, Schiavo gets brought into the picture. Yes, there is relevance. It just gets old and the threads then turn into the 1001 past threads. If you bother to read any of my further posts you will know that I agree with GLGB and even you. So blow.

And a different dog? ;-)

You said, "I am merely stating that saying a story about a baby alligator being taken out of a pond recieved more heart-felt coverage than abortion or Schiavo is totally untrue."

softtwarecreator, I've been watching Katie & Co. for a long time, and I've NEVER seen her express the empathetic, emotional concern for an aborted fetus, (or for children murdered by their Mother), that she did for the alligator this morning. Now maybe she was faking it, maybe she wants viewers to think she's a softie for critters, but one thing for sure, she's never been so demonstrative about murdered babies, unborn or born.
