I've never posted a vanity before ... heck, I've never really posted anything before, just added to ongoing threads. But here goes anyway ...
I would ask all of my friends .. fellows and ladies .. from FreeRepublic to take some time to say a prayer for my wife. She was scheduled to have open-heart surgery -- an aortic valve replacement, a single-heart bypass, and repair of a congenital hole in her heart -- tomorrow. However, it never rains but it pours.
This afternoon, at about 1500, she had multiple strokes, leaving two bleeding hemorrhages in her brain and, while not putting her in a coma, reducing her to a state of confusion and semi-consciousness.
The doctors at Scott and White in the Critical Care Unit are doing yeoman work, trying to keep all of the balls in the air -- thinning her blood enough to help fight the stroke conditions, but keeping it thick enough in case they have to go in in a hurry to repair her heart or the blood vessels in her head. If anybody can do it, they can.
I'm holding in there as well as can be expected. I've gotten more praying in lately than I have over the past several years. I would please ask all of you to just say a short prayer for a wonderful woman and a great source of contentment and happiness in my life. All of your prayers and good thoughts can't do anything but help.
Prayers for your wife, you and family BlueLancer. May God bless, heal and keep all of you in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord,
You hold us all in the palm of your hand,
through the good times,
when we sometimes forget you're even there,
through the bad times,
when we cry out for you through the darkness and the fear,
and the knowledge that we are not in control.
Help us always to feel your loving touch,
to be aware how you share our sorrows,
celebrate our joys,
weep with us in our fear and dismay.
Especially today, Lord,
I ask you to be with BlueLancer and his family,
especially his wife who is looking down a dark road.
Help her stay strong and able
while the doctors work to save her.
Help her doctors to make the right decisions,
be there at the right moment,
have the hands that heal.
Be with BlueLancer while he faces the fear,
deals with the decisions,
comforts while his heart is aching,
and bring them all at last to the joy of your presence.
In the Name of Jesus, we ask,
Amen.
Prayers being said for your wife, and for you, BlueLancer.
Prayers are sent. May God bless and heal and walk with both of you through this. One day at a time with lots of prayer.

Prayers up! Peace and healing for her and peace for you and all those who love her. God bless you both.
Many thanks for all of your prayers and well-wishes. Cecilia underwent an MRI and several brain scans yesterday to verify and localize the hemorrhages in her head. Today, they did an angiogram, which, from my understanding, is the equivalent of running a sewer-snake with a camera on the end through her veins, from her groin up through her neck and into her head, to actually see the problem. I was told that the location of the hemorrhages is unusual, that it was relatively unknown for aneurisms to occur in those areas of the brain.
The results of the angiogram still weren't in when I left the hospital. I was told that the data was still being examined and interpreted by the neurologists and would probably not be known until sometime tomorrow. From what I understand, the options are: to do nothing right now and just keep her under observation while they try to stabilize her blood pressure; to drain the blood from the brain (either internally or externally); or to operate on the affected blood vessels and potential aneurisms (also either internally or externally).
They are still leaving open the potential for performing the heart surgeries .. the replacement of the aortic valve, the single-bypass, and the closing of the congenital hole in her heart .. after they've straightened out the problems that caused her strokes (whenever they come up with an answer to that question as well) and stabilized her blood pressure. That decision is still hanging fire, dependent upon what they decide to do in her head and the resulting recovery time for that.
Cecilia is still a little bit disoriented, but is not paralyzed at all, still has free movement of her hands and feet, and hasn't exhibited any of the visual and facial stereotypes that are usually exhibited by stroke victims. She recognizes me, knows where she's at and why, and is able to carry out a normal conversation (when she's awake enough to do so).
I will try to keep this thread current as I find out information to pass along to all of you.
Again, much heartfelt thanks for all of the prayers. If y'all can, please continue to pray for Cecilia's recovery in your daily prayers. Blessings on all of you, my FReeper family.
