yeah but really, he was constantly getting the shaft from his "buddies" in the patriot cause, and he was stone cold crazy for fame and fortune, plus, at the time it looked like he was on the losing side..... suprised more didn't follow his route actually. Says something about the character of our founders that so few turned tail. course even those that stayed in the patriot cause still back stabbed Washington every chance they could, but as history works out, no one rememebrs their names, and George W. is on the dollar bill....payback's a...hehe He was waiting for the next best offer ...
Just like McCain ...

The traitors have agreed not to pull the trigger on the constitutional option during this Congress. In writing. Do you trust the DemocRATs not to filibuster any of the nominees after these first three? Then what do we do?

An e-mail I just sent to the RNC:
Due to the extreme cowardice and near treasonous disregard for the Constitution of the United States shown by the Republican members of the Senate of the United States, who decided to cave in to unreasonable demands from the Democrat side of the aisle, I will cease to provide contributions to the Republican National Committee. Until this party remembers who voted for it and behaves in a manner consistent with what its base believes in, you will not receive so much as one penny from me again.

"Major Garrett just said the Dims lose on this one."It sounds that way to me...But try to tell that to the naysayers and backbiters who are flocking to this thread to look for any reason to tear down the Republican Party.
You missed the fine print -- the part where the RINO's committed not to support the constitutional (or nuclear) option in the future. See post 702 for the grim details.

Oh...the Filabuster of Judicial nominees will absolutely GO DOWN........THE FIRST TIME THE GOP is in the MINORITY and tries to FILABUSTER a DIM POTUS nominee. There is no doubt that the Dems would have steamrolled the Republicans if the roles had been reversed, they've done it before.
The Republicans have a "good guy" mentality, the Democrats have a "bad boy" reputation. We are destined to be held to a higher standard and I don't see that changing.

Most of us are angry at the compromise and we all have hoped that the Senate would have voted to end the filibuster once and for all. However the 3 judges out of five that were approved for an up and down votes were the most brutalized by the left, Prior, Owens, and Rogers Brown, much more than the other two who we do not their fate Saad and Meyers. Most of us do not even know much about these two judges and they were never in the middle of the liberal attack machine. Moreover this will make it hard for the Democrats to filibuster other judges because in their mind these 3 judges approved in this compromise deal were the worst of the worst according to them. These 3 judges were very high standards for the extreme circumstances, and I do not know how the Democrats can consider other future nominees as more extreme judges. Moreover President Bush can appoint these three judges to the US SUPREME COURT if there are three vacancies and the Democrats cannot do anything about it.
PS: When the up and down vote on the 3 judges will be in the coming weeks, the vast majority of us who are raising hell on this thread, will be very happy.

At the end of the day, Janice Brown takes her seat.Despite all of the dust in the air right now, and the nashing of teeth, this is a big plus. At the very worst, we wait to see how the rest plays out.

Yes, well even Benedict Arnold rendered service..
Actually, Benedict Arnold was a truely heroic patriot and military officer, before a political slight led to his treason. McCain was the pampared offspring of a senior officer who's only claim to brilliance involved serving as a POW, and nearly blowing up his own aircraft carrier (SS Forester: he killed 132 and wounded 62 more - by accidentally launching a missile) . His military service, while genuine, has been much overhyped.

Frist is worthless and the President is now a lame duck. Your anger is missplaced. It wasn't Frist who pulled off this tratorous act. It was McCain, Warner, Snowe, Collins, Chafee and Graham. Get with the program.

Consulting doesn't mean they approve his picks... it just means they have some input. Reagan used to "consult." He'd pick a few that he'd like, then would ask the Rat which of the 3 he thought would be a good choice. Picking Ben Nelson's conservative golfing buddy isn't a hard thing to do.

I just wonder if some of these "moderates" in the GOP agreed to vote with the Democrats to defeat the nominees if the Dems agreed to allow an up or down vote.Therein lies the danger. I would not be surprised at all if this turns out to be the deal.

So, the Dems retreat to regroup; we get three of our most conservative nominees; and we all live to fight another day. That's the bottom line. The Democrats want to forestall until the latest possible moment the quite proper action by the Republicans to eliminate the Democrats latest unconstitutional power grab from the Republicans. It's the old Fabian legal tactic of agitate, delay, and wait for the opponents resolve to waiver. They need this power to scuttle Bush's judicial nominees, which for the Democrats is the Holy Grail of political power and just about the only game left for them as the electorate is increasingly rejecting their agenda (when that agenda is sufficiently clear to voters)
The fact that the Republicans wouldn't stand together today has given the Democrats a win. There is no other way to look at this except as a significant defeat for the Republicans. They simply didn't "strike while the iron is hot" so to speak. Later, when the Democrats mount their next major attack (against the SCOTUS nominations) we will find ourselves right back in the thick of it again, with perhaps less power on our side. This WILL happen, as IMO the current "controversy" about these appellate judges has been merely a warm-up to the SCOTUS battle yet to come.
It seems to me ironic that, when in the minority, the Democrats still command more power than the Republican majority. This to me is more revealing about the Republicans than the Democrats.
