I just read a post on conservative blog that stated few freepers were veterans (implication was that we were chicken hawks). Having conversed with many of you and met a few, I do not believe that is the case. But it did get me wondering, who among us is active or prior service veterans? Awright you freeper vets SOUND OFF!

Right now USAFR, flying C-130's. I have participated in Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, and Iraq Freedom. At some point I'll be back over there.

US Army 1966-68. I served one year in Vietnam with the
498TH DUSTOFF-AIR AMBULANCE as crew chief on a UH-1D (Huey) helicopter.

I've had the great privilege of getting to know a few Freepers better, and you are CORRECT. There is indeed a great deal of intelligence here. A lot of skill as well!
The sheer volume of knowlege on FR doesn't let participants get away with much in the way of being incorrect. A lot of people have (unintentionally) posted information in the forum that was refuted and proven otherwise, by tens, dozens, sometimes hundreds or more! It's a humbling experience. :-)
I also personally happen to believe that it's difficult for somebody to have served in the military, and remain a leftist. Especially those who discover what we're "really" fighting for, and the gravity and extent of the missions at hand, and what is at stake if we lose. It changes your entire world outlook. It also makes you realize what a flaming bunch of idiots the MSM is comprised of.
I used to contrast what information I had access to against the MSM, and just chuckle. :-)

I like your tagline. :-) Surrender is "generally" unacceptable. Retreat is fine so long as you do it like Chesty Puller did while leaving Chosin Korea in 1950. :-) Now THAT was a RETREAT! :-)

Let's see . . .
My Great Gpa served during the Civil War (not saying which side!), my Gpa served in the Spanish American war and WWI (sniper), all my great uncles on my mom's side served during WWII, Dad served during Korea (MP), husband (firefighter), brother (mapping service) and brother-in-law (medical) served during Desert Storm, and an uncle who was a fighter pilot in WWII. I think that is everyone.
I am eternally grateful to all of them, as well as to all of you. Forget about Superman. You guys are true heroes.
