Free Republic Military?
5/16/05 | Guard Dog

I just read a post on conservative blog that stated few freepers were veterans (implication was that we were chicken hawks). Having conversed with many of you and met a few, I do not believe that is the case. But it did get me wondering, who among us is active or prior service veterans? Awright you freeper vets SOUND OFF!

Welcome!

Civilian support and volunteers do help out tremendously from what I understand.
Probably more than I know.

"I spent two years in last graph. 83-85. I was with A and HQ 3/60."

I was there in 1977 with A 17th Engr Bn. when the 2d Armored Division was rotating a Brigage through there every six months.

Uh...not to "pick nits", but I think that in order for this to apply to a person, one must have served the country in a manner which made him/her under the authority of the UCMJ and suffer the consquenses for straying from it.

That's a great song though!...really! :-)

I don't know about "fun". I don't just don't like bullies and Marines are just the guys to deal with them. In my case look closer at the dates. Vietnam, Reagan military build up, Falkland Islands, and the Gulf War. Afghanistan and Iraq are the first wars I've missed in my adult lifetime.

The problem with being good at something means people call on you when there are tough jobs. And the reward for successfully completing a tough job is a tougher job.

This is known as a vicious circle.

The full implication of what started this thread JUST "hit me".... ...chicken hawk...!?

Sheesh...they could have done no better than to take a poll of armed individuals here on FR! LOL! ;-)

Truth be known, there is probably the greatest accumulation of current and former military, ARMED conservatives on FR than anywhere else on the net.

THAT has to be one of a leftist's worse nightmares. :-)

"Chicken Hawk" indeed. :-)
