Sailors and marines climb down a cargo net and into the Persian Gulf during a swim call aboard the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson (CVN 70) on Tuesday. And the Kids of The Company are about to head out into The Sandbox, here at NTC. The weather's not near as hot as it could be, but still being only 20 miles south of Death Valley, it ain't a resort...
Sarge and The Kids are doing fairly well, considering the pressure we're being put under. Lots of last-minute, eleventh-hour, five-minutes-to-midnight BS that happens, and y'all know what I'm talking about!
Nasty evil mean-spirited rumors abound out here, that we might have Web access while we're out there. It's a far cry from the analog Army Sarge grew up in, with stuby pencils, paper maps, stone knives and bearskins.
