Greetings, FReepers, Troops,
and All the Ships at Sea!

Reporting in Drive-by Mode from the Dust Bowl in sunny Fort Irwin, it’s Day 158 of Sarge's Most Excellent Adventure!

And the Kids of The Company are about to head out into The Sandbox, here at NTC. The weather's not near as hot as it could be, but still being only 20 miles south of Death Valley, it ain't a resort...

Sarge and The Kids are doing fairly well, considering the pressure we're being put under. Lots of last-minute, eleventh-hour, five-minutes-to-midnight BS that happens, and y'all know what I'm talking about!

Nasty evil mean-spirited rumors abound out here, that we might have Web access while we're out there. It's a far cry from the analog Army Sarge grew up in, with stuby pencils, paper maps, stone knives and bearskins.

Sarge might be back in the area, but if not, then Y’all Have Fun!

SARGE

DISCLAIMER: If you wish to be on/off Sarge's Daily Report, FReepmail with details!

Tom, you rule!

Thanks SO MUCH for the Rod Stewart "Forever Young", it is one of the very, very few versions of a Dylan song that beats Dylan's original. And the only one, I think which beats Dylan's hands down. But, that is evened out by the fact that Dylan wrote it for his own son, and it is a classic. Double classic, eh?

As for superstitiousness, I once was moving into an apartment, on Sat. the 14th. On Friday the 13th I was there waiting for the carpet cleaner guy to come. As I was straightening the place up I was throwing a few pennies on the floor, to always have $ while I lived there. Meanwhile Sean Hannity was on the radio asking his listeners "do you think you are superstitious on this Friday the 13th?"

As I'm scattering the pennies I'm thinking "No, I'm not superstitous at all!"
