Part of a retaining wall has collapsed over the NYC Parkway, the 'Henry Hudson Highway'?
Could be a nasty commute home. No evidence of terrorism.

It ain't goin' nowhere.
Looks like the Pacific Coast Highway between Santa Monica and Malibu after a rainstorm.
Quote "No evidence of terrorism"
I hope that was a joke! :) lol I was just telling someone that I bet Fox News would be saying "terrorism has not been ruled out" within the hour. :P
lol
FoxNews now showing some video of firemen climbing around the trees. Showing the front end of a small red car caught by the slide, may be another car a little deeper into the trees that done slud...
Wow, sure hope no one's underneath all that!
I've driven that route countless times when I live in the east.... this is going to be nasty for the N-S traffic if they can't get the H. Hudson re-opened soon.
How long before Hillary and little Chuckie Schumer start shrieking to try to blame Rs for the disaster????
And they'll be calling for federal funding, even though it's a state highway.... Rte. 9, I believe.
an "eyewitness is saying some debris fell and authorities were called and that the road may have been closed when the major debris came down.
Perhaps no one is buried.
Put my in your NY ping list.
Take the 1 or the 9 to Van Cortlandt Park and Broadway, and then the bus up hill. I believe Metro North's Hudson Line (which stops at Spuyten Duyvill), should still be operating, unless anyone else here has any news.
Wow! Just like we get every rainy season here in Cali!
Nasty, nasty. I've driven that road and admired those retaining walls.
LOL! ["And trow a few of dem used `heaters' in dere before ya cover it over!"]
That collapse brought about the closure and eventual demolition of the steel, elevated portion of the West Side H'wy.
We were in NYC yesterday, and wondered why the police presence was so heavy. At the time, I hadn't heard about the errant plane over the DC airspace. I guess they wasnted to be on hand in case something happened in the city.
Gonna be a L-O-N-G commute home for the folks on that side of the Hudson Parkway.
Looks like an ache today.
Your an optimist.
My guess, it'll take close to a year, maybe more.
Agreed, I have a much smaller retaining wall in my yard that was installed by someone that did not know what they were doing, they backfilled it with clay, the pressure is causing it to buckle.
No idea..I'm on the other side of the country.
Fox reported that the Police were at the scene before the dirt wall came down and had stopped traffic before the slide.
They said only parked cars were under the debris.
hey thanks , I was listening as this unfolded ,...brought my daughter downtown to 13th St for language lesson , we live at West End Ave & 98th and everything is just normal,LOL, maybe SNAFU
