I know it's been a while. Well i forgot to duck. By the time most of you see this I will be on my way to Germany for treatment. The war for me is done. My men continue to do the job. This last rash of bombings and attacks are being under reported and I don't know why. Al Queada is getting desparate. I don't know when I'm will RTS. But I do imagine that it will be soon. God I love wireless. LOL! Please keep praying for us.

It appears to me that this guy is seriously wounded and one of the things on his mind was the support he was getting from FreeRepublic. I think this is a hoax at all, he needs the support.

Dude, give it a rest. For all anyone knows it could be someone else using his FR cookie from a shared computer to humiliate him. The wireless reference means he's not on NIPR and private internet service US forces/Iraq is rare enough that everyone shares it, often via a shared default login. Since his name is apparently known maybe an Active Duty FReeper can look him up on AKO, or aren't SOCOM members listed?

I admit it would be quite unusual for someone to post for him in the first person. Also, the "under-reported" is likely bs, since most people here get their 'reporting' from CENTCOM and their Command, not the MSM. He might have meant CENTCOM is under-reporting, which wouldn't be completely false, just unlikely.

The worst thing imo is, as you mentioned, his name/affiliation. Why-in-the-H would someone use their command (or private company) in their screen name? People are so politicized nowadays who'd want to be the psycho-play thing of some media-crazed-liberal still enraged over Gore2000?

I'll give the guy at the rally the benefit of the doubt. The online person and latest communication could be someone else.

I used to post from Iraq, but never any vanities or anything of this sort, mostly just conversation on threads.

At this point I still don't believe it to be geniune.

Many Freepers have been fooled by others before, so this wouldn't be the first.

Personally, I couldn't imaginve being wounded severely enough for a medevac to Germany and still wanting to post a note like that to a forum that I don't have much familiarity with. Heck, if I had been wounded, I can't imagine posting that on FR anyway!

I was at the Oscar FReep and sent about 5 hours with Capt. Pierce. I did see his ID. All that proves is that he is Army.
But as a former MP and EMT, I feel I have goop instincts about people and I feel he's the real deal.

FWIW. I tried to look up both Captain Pierce and 1LT Owen on AKO. No Joy. I've not had any trouble looking up folks who I knew were in the Army, including my nephew who is deployed to Southwest Asia as an activated reservist. I also had no problem finding a gent that some folks needed contacted on the Air Force equivalent site.

In looking, I did not use first names, but just last name and rank. Gots lots of CPT Pierces and 1LT Owens but none with the right first or middle names.

Move me to the skeptic column.
