United States Attacked

Val Kilmer-in London to star onstage in 'The Postman Always Rings Twice'--has been trashing Americans, saying they are ignorant and illiterate.

Asked how British audiences compare to American ones, Kilmer told the London Sun Newspaper, 'They are smarter. They read books.'

Kilmer then berated Broadway for becoming too 'Vegas like.'

Val Kilmer isn't Batman. Adam West err Michael Keaton is.

Actually, in "Batman Begins", which opens up on June 17th, Christian Bale will be the new Batman. Here is a picture of him in his "Bruce Wayne" gear.

I read. Before I married, most of my money went for books. Now I go to the library (which frequently doesn't have what I want...).

On the other hand, I seldom go to the movies... And I walk out on them if they bore me.

An actor of such ability and intelligence that he was canned from the Batman series. By the way, he lives in New Mexico. Since he has such an appreciation of superior foreign culture does he employ any "guest" workers?

You know what, he is probably right about Americans, but I'll bet you that the statistics for other countries are about the same, in terms of how many read books, etc.

Bottom line, if one country is reading books like "Bush the Nazi" and the other is watching "South Park", who is the more educated?

I agree, when Paris Hilton and Survior command TV time over the President there is something wrong with the audience. If the majority of Americans were watching the History Channel or reading a book (hell, even a magazine or newspaper) at 8 PM on a Wednesday this comment would be unfounded, but unfortunatly this isn't the case.

Of course Val Kilmer isn't Batman. He's Jim Morrison, another famous loser.

I have to be honest. "Real Genius" was a family favorite at my house. I also have to admit that there is some truth in what he says, but I immediately lose respect for anyone who bashes America when sitting comfortably abroad.

Americans don't read books. I guess that's why Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.com never did any volume and no longer exist.

He's half-right: his allies are semi-literate. However, the conservative book market is booming.
Speak for yourself, middle-aged Hollywood bad-boy/man-child.

Some of us can afford to buy books, we don't need to go to the library.
