Last night on EWTN was a program called Catechism. The guy who was lecturing, I guess a monk, was really great. He said 'look, it might be tempting to take the I'm ok you're ok approach with homosexuals because we love them. But, only the truth can set you free, and the truth is that it is a sin. We all have a cross to bear, and for homosexuals, it is a life of celibacy, just as it is for me."

It was really great.

The cool thing about Bendict XVI is that he knows where the bodies are buried.

JP II spent his entire life in Poland, where his entire pastoral struggle was against communism.

Thus, he tended to trust the Church in the West.

Benedict on the other hand has for more than twenty years recieved complaints and documents concerning AMChurch etc...

He knows what the real deal is.

Well, although personally he seems like a quiet, scholarly, humble man, he also seems to be pretty hard-headed when the chips are down.

Hope he does the right thing.

. If it were Pedophilia, first off the victims would not be 12 to 17.. they'd be much younger... and secondly if it was purely pedophilia there would be female victims as well... Priests have access to young girls even more so now than ever in the past.

Excellent point!

God will not abandon His people. If He still considers The Catholic Church to be His people He will strengthen it. God bless Pope Benedict for this action!

The anti-catholic bend of the past is long gone.

If anything, i expect to see "resignations" which were encouraged by the church officials.

The homosexuals will not go easily.

"This was posted earlier "

So sorry...I hate to doublepost. I actually checked the article title and got no results. But I now realize that I had accidentally set the search to "by poster"...carelessness on my part.

Talk is cheap. I'll be impressed when I see some ACTION coming out of the Vatican to address this.

Agreed. I hope the church starts cleaning things up soon.

As unpleasant as the topic is to think about, there is a logic to your post. From what I have heard of pedophilia there is indeeda concept of a child being "too old" while till a child. And I have frequently wondered why we never hear of girls being abused.

Whatever it is, or is called, of course it has to be rooted out.

But knowing and naming the problem also helps make sure the correct tools are used to fight it.

Children are at stake. That's the important thing.

"Whenever Vatican investigators brought the results of their vetting process regarding an individual's candidacy for bishop, cardinal or other office, and they revealed he was a homosexual, John Paul II would refuse to believe it," he writes.

" He did so because accusing someone of homosexuality was a standard practice of the Communist government in his native Poland regarding anyone it regarded as an enemy of the state. From his ordination as a Catholic priest in 1946 to elevation to Archbishop of Krakow in 1963 and Cardinal in 1967, the then Karol Wojtyla witnessed this personal destruction repeatedly. So traumatized, he summarily dismissed such accusations as pope, and would approve the elevation of anyone so accused."

I can understand John Paul's denial. I had not idea that such practices existed until I went to art college in 1973 and so the just 'coming out' gay population of Philadelphia parading down 15th street. Even so, I still am completely appalled at what the whole perversion involves. I went on to go to a school in Berkeley where I took a print class where I turned out to be the only 'straight' person enrolled, I got along fine, and I guess that the subject never came up because in many ways, because sexuality is not my normal venue for relating to others they didn't bring the subject up ~ until I saw their worked printed.

There I am in a secular world, and Papa John Paul was always surrounded by people like himself, who were working to do the best thing possible, or fighting against the evil guys, who also agreed that homosexuality was a terrible perversion.

good points but never forget the homosexual lobby is trying to say that the male on male sex was not homosexuality.

The problem is its NOT JUST THE PRIESTS.. that's what I am saying.. the Church decided to make a deal with the devil when it dropped the ban on Homosexuals in the priesthood.... They modified it to be, ok as long as they weren't active and practicing.. and this change allowed them in the door, now more than a generation later, they are not only in the church, but they have turned many diocese into their own bath houses. Actively recruiting young gays, trading sexual favors for position and clout, covering up for one another etc etc. Any that speak out against them are pushed off into the boondocks and forgotten.

Now not all Diocese are this bad, but trust me, some are and most lay Catholics have no idea how bad some of them are. Its no longer just a gay priest here and there, they are in positions of power, appointing or refusing appointments based on favors and things.

The purge that needs to happen in some of these diocese are massive in scope... and the church needs to return to banning homosexuals from serving in the priesthood period. This "enlightened' move to remove the ban threatens the very foundations of the church... It must be stopped and the blackness must be rooted out.
