The cool thing about Bendict XVI is that he knows where the bodies are buried.

JP II spent his entire life in Poland, where his entire pastoral struggle was against communism.

Thus, he tended to trust the Church in the West.

Benedict on the other hand has for more than twenty years recieved complaints and documents concerning AMChurch etc...

He knows what the real deal is.

Well, although personally he seems like a quiet, scholarly, humble man, he also seems to be pretty hard-headed when the chips are down.

Hope he does the right thing.

True that. I can't wait to see his first consistory (Chaput needs a red hat). And the quality of new bishops has already gone way up recently in the US -- I expect that trend to continue. I don't know about heads rolling ~ it seems that sort of thing will mostly be handled via attrition.
