Noting that in his Good Friday homily soon-to-be pope Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger condemned the "filth there is in the church," Wheeler believes the pontiff "will not tolerate [homosexuality's] presence in his church."

Great news.
I hope this is truly what is going to happen and not some lazy reporter just half arsing a story. Some diocese' in the American Catholic Church are completely run and owned by active homosexuals.... it is like a YMCA fraternity.. Rome must PURGE this blackness from the church... I hope that this is going to come to pass.
Most lay Catholics have no idea how infiltrated and corrupted some of these diocese are.
Believe it or not the moves in the Catholic Church will help stiffen the conservative Protestants and their churches who are also under assault by the homosexuals as well!
If you actually read the full article, you will see that it sort of takes away from the idea of John Paul the Great.
Which perhaps is reasonable.
John Paul II did wonders for the Church, but he also willfully blinded himself to the fact that homosexuals were taking over key positions in the Church.
He simply could not imagine that bishops and rectors of seminaries were active homosexuals.
His episcopal appointments, Mahoney especially, have led to the destruction of the Church in America.
I for one will not miss John Paul in this regard.
Of course its homosexuality.. its not Pedophilia. If it were Pedophilia, first off the victims would not be 12 to 17.. they'd be much younger... and secondly if it was purely pedophilia there would be female victims as well... Priests have access to young girls even more so now than ever in the past.
Talk is cheap.
I'll be impressed when I see some ACTION coming out of the Vatican to address this.
If that's the case the Catholic church might as well disband the Jesuits.
It is great news. Now, we have to see how hard Satan will fight back.
I read today how our local "motorcycle" priest is being retired by our new Bishop. It is past time for these heterodox shepherds to leave. Disagreement can be productive in some cases, but not with the hubris and sheer arrogance evinced by most.
Good luck digging them out. But don't count on much success.
Although, John Paul perhaps had reasons to deny the homosexualization of the Church.
He was such a strong, heterosexual man, who had no experience with homosexuals.
From the article,
"Whenever Vatican investigators brought the results of their vetting process regarding an individual's candidacy for bishop, cardinal or other office, and they revealed he was a homosexual, John Paul II would refuse to believe it," he writes.
"He did so because accusing someone of homosexuality was a standard practice of the Communist government in his native Poland regarding anyone it regarded as an enemy of the state. From his ordination as a Catholic priest in 1946 to elevation to Archbishop of Krakow in 1963 and Cardinal in 1967, the then Karol Wojtyla witnessed this personal destruction repeatedly. So traumatized, he summarily dismissed such accusations as pope, and would approve the elevation of anyone so accused. "
Wheeler says that's why the church is "riddled" with homosexuals today.
To destroy the Velvet Mafia a lot of heads are going to have to roll. Good.
History will say that the greatest stain upon the record of Pope John Paul II was how under his watch the Velvet Mafia was allowed to foment a scandal of such proportions that the moral voice of the American Catholic church has been deeply wounded.
I pray you are right, the demonstrations at the Southern Baptist Convention have gotten to be a real distraction.
The bottom line is that these perverts have made their bodies the object of worship, it's an idol just like anything else that gets in the way of the Almighty and the singular worship he deserves.
It's not so much of a joke as you might think. As of this past Sunday, our parish now says the Pater Noster in Latin as well as the Credo, plus the Kyrie in Greek!
This information, as sad as it is, needs to be exposed to show that it is the root cause of the many scandals in the Church. Depending on the severity of the crime, the scandalous priests and religious should be either defrocked and prosecuted or be made to enter a remote monastery to do penance for the rest of their lives. If the latter option is decided upon, these priests or religious should never again be allowed to minister.
For real?! (LOL...I'm getting nervous for you taking on the Jesuits!)
You combine that with the natural reluctance of the Vatican to interfere in "internal" matters in the U.S. -- because of the longstanding tradition of nativist, anti-Catholic agitation (just look at poor Al Smith, and how hard JFK had to work to overcome it even in the 60s) -- and it goes a long way to explain why something wasn't done a whole lot earlier to weed these guys out.
IIRC, Ratzinger began taking charge of these cases in 2002. Hopefully he will take a harder line, even if the anti-Catholics whine about "interference from a foreign potentate" etc. etc.
