Washington, DC -- Political disputes and not religion, begat violence, says John Esposito, a widely respected American professor and author on the Islamic world, known for his moderate views on Islam. Esposito was awarded Pakistan's highest civilhonor, the Hilal-i-Quaid-i-Azam, at the Pakistani embassy in Washington. "Prof. Esposito has done more than any other individual in the last three or four decades to promote a better understanding between the Islamic and Western worlds," said Pakistan's ambassador Jehangir Karamat. Esposito used the award ceremony to urge people living in the two worlds to make a better effort towards understanding each other. He argued that: In the West, particularly the United States, when people talk about moderate Muslims, the underlying assumption is that the majority is not moderate. Some people even talk about moderating the religion itself, assuming that there's something in the religion that promotes violence and extremism.
Similarly, when some Americans ask 'why they hate us,' they assume that the majority in the Muslim world hates America. What they fail to see is that those who have disagreements with the U.S. foreign policy do not necessarily hate America. "If you had Palestines and Northern Irelands in other places, you would have violence in those places as well," said Esposito.

Three weeks ago I would have thought the statement above still somewhat extreme and inflammatory. However, after almost two years of studying Islam and debating some of its adherents I can only beg the day we heed Anne Coulter’s words. It is time for Americans and all freedom loving Westerners to recognize the subtle assault upon our values, our freedoms and democratic principles being waged by the corrupt, despotic forces of Islam. This is war.
The assault is truly subtle in the West. Most Westerners don’t understand the code words that Islam uses to disguise its Jihad against our way of life. Too few of us understand the Muslim doctrine of “Taqiyya” which enables them to do virtually anything, including the betrayal of their faith, as a ruse to infiltrate alien societies and further the march of Islam and the destruction of those who do not believe in their faith. Under Islam, any heinous act or crime can be justified in the name of Jihad. For too long we have ignored Islam as it quietly invaded our culture. Democracy and Western tolerance are anathema to them. Every Friday, in mosques all across the Western world, Imams rage against our values and incite hate for our way of life knowing all the time the weakest of their flock will find endorsement in their words to exact violence against us and our children. Then, begging the lie that Islam is a religion of peace the Imams calmly respond to the victims’ questions of why this could happen with pleadings of innocence and our failure to see Islam for the truly peaceful religion it is. They portray Muslims as the victims of cultural misunderstanding while ignoring the bankruptcy of a twisted doctrine that justifies spilling the blood of innocents. It is all a lie that works into their strategy, carefully cultivated since the early 20th century by the Muslim Brotherhood, to use our own freedoms and tolerance to destroy us. By creating fear or reluctance to challenge them with the truth, they slowly but surely destroy our resolve and rob us of our most precious freedom…freedom of speech. When that is taken from us, all will be lost. It is time to fight back.
Yesterday the European Parliament banned Theo van Gogh’s film ‘Submission’ (EP bans screening of 'Submission' ) in a response to the subtle but always present intimidation against exposing Islam for what it truly is, a medieval, barbaric and violent cult that seeks to impose despotic tyranny over all the globe, sanctions the murder of non-believers, legitimizes theft of infidels’ property and relegates women and the ‘tolerated’ dhimmi to roles of subservience under Muslim masters. Europe may be lost, but we aren’t. Three weeks ago the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization descended from the Muslim Brotherhood, boldly claimed victory in forcing the National Review to cease advertising two books that challenged the politically correct myth of Islam that we are being brainwashed with today. I immediately ordered my copies of the books they so much want to have us avoid reading. If we allow this subversion to continue we will not long survive the disease that has already infected Europe. It is time to fight back against CAIR and all other Muslim organizations that would use legal slight of hand and our democratic values to destroy us. It is time for us to do the same to them.
We must challenge them in the streets. We must challenge them in the press. We must challenge them in the courts. We must challenge them at the gates and doors of their mosques. We must challenge them in the schools and the school boards. We must challenge them in the minds of their children. We must expose their moral corruption to the whole world and loudly proclaim the truth of Muhammad’s lecherous and criminal destruction of freedom within the Arab world. We must assault Islam with the same tools Christianity has been assaulted with the last 500 years. We must make them understand there is no room in our culture and civilization for their brand of fascist intolerance. If their faith cannot survive as Christianity has survived the assaults launched against it without resorting to violence and intimidation we must be prepared to fight…to invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.
This is war and we will not have won until we can freely and openly carry a Bible or any other non-Muslim sacred text into Saudi Arabia and worship freely there and in Egypt, Iran, Sudan, and all other so-called Muslim countries, the God of our choosing, without fear of being murdered or persecuted. Any institution that would deny us that basic human right cannot be a religion as Islam claims it is but nothing more than a despotic ideological and political dogma no different from fascism or communism. We must recognize Islam for what it is and fight to either change or destroy it. Until Muslims all over the world and their brood states grant to all people the human rights they so insidiously train their followers to demand from us our war with Islam will not end. We must demonstrate our tolerance does not extend to acceptance of the intolerance that Islam demands of its followers. That would be like playing poker against our own money and we will surely lose. It is a war we must win for the sake of our children, our wives, our daughters and our freedoms.

I see that you have a clear picture of the "religion of peace." It is consummate foolishness to consider this anything other than a religious war. These people are dedicated to our destruction and the sooner we are convinced of that and have our objectives regarding them clearly stated the better.
