I think the Prez is near the top of his game tonight, particularly with respect to Social Security. He made the point well, and should continue to do so, that investment of a small portion of one's own money in the stock market is voluntary. It is difficult to understand why this is being resisted.

Excellent comments on North Korea.

I'm a bit surprised at the lack of Presidential comments, or questions from the peanut gallery, on the Senate judicial matter. I like what Senator Frist said today, and any support from the President would be welcome. I hope to hear it before the presser is finished.

"Is there any danger that the atomosphere will become so poisoned" that you won't be able to accomplish all of your goals?

If it is poisoned it will be the MSM doing the Poisoning !

They have been doing it for way to long it would be nice to hear a crisp clean MSM reporter but im afraid they are spoiled from the day of Graduation and they just ROT from there !

Maybe he was graciously affording W another chance at a better answer.

If so, the offer was mostly declined.

Bush is hitting a home run on the SS issue tonight. I just hope the feeble minded are listening.

I agree, but I kind of doubt the "feeble minded" are tuned in to President Bush's press conference. Isn't "American Idol" or "Survivor" on tonight, opposite this? :-(

They are both "STretch" but I forget which is which. It's in Sammon's book, tho.

Fer Pete's sake, in front of the press. he's got to praise FDR and SS. This is lip service, and Bush, you and I all know it.

Immigration reform is lower on the list and unless you suggest "planting" a reporter to ask that question, well....

Absolutely not my motive at all. I have no time for such juvenile antics. Please . . .

It is taboo because for the simple reason that all of us have relatives who lived on it and for some it was all they had like my in laws. My father in law's company went out of business, nobody got any pension and he was 63 years old. He and my mother in law lived on SS and her teacher's retirement. My grandfather lived on it, some 150 or so bucks a month. It was all he had and my parents were raising five children with no extra money. I think we forget how close to the line our grandparetns and some of our parents lived. They needed it and lived on it.

That is why it is taboo to talk about getting rid of it.

There have always been two called "Stretch". Bill Sammon is "Big Stretch".

That clears things up. :)

Your replies seem a bit sour this evening, Dan.

With the left, with 58-60 million votes nationwide, crying, "Social Security is the greatest social program ever created" you have to regulate your rhetoric.

Unless you have 65 million voters willing to take, "it sucks" and not waver.

I don't think you do.

Lemme get this straight: You're claiming that "Bush and his ilk" have taken 80K in SS deductions in just the last 5 years that GWB has had the com, and you didn't lose ANY during the terms of The Bent One, Bush1 or Reagan?

You can't hang it all on GWB.

As for getting your money back; you've got two options:
OPTION 1
Since you're all pi$$ & vinegar over it, you could just pack up your bad self and your 'tude and roll on up to D.C. and ask Congress to give it all back; sort of the "up close and personal" approach.
UPSIDE: You'd see parts of Washington that most tourists don't see.
DOWNSIDE: You'd see parts of Washington that most tourists don't see.

OPTION 2
Keep FReepin' and vote Conservative.
UPSIDE: You won't see any parts of Washington you don't chose to see.
DOWNSIDE: Your grandkids might get your money back instead of you.

Bill Sammon wasted his question by repeating the "Are you responsible for the partisanship?"

I thought he gave the President a chance to address the issue....which the President did well.
