RIGHT-WINGER BLASTS O'REILLY - Michael Savage blasts Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh

RIGHT-WINGER BLASTS O'REILLY

RABID radio host Michael Savage is whining that he has been banned from the Fox News Channel after he dissed Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity.

The controversial conservative — who was fired by MSNBC in 2003 after referring to a caller to his show as "a sodomite" who should "get AIDS and die" — recently burned more bridges by calling O'Reilly a "Leper-Con who poses as a conservative" and Hannity "another Republican bootlicker who began as a Rush [Limbaugh] understudy" on his "Savage Nation" radio show.

Savage claims that he's been bumped off four scheduled appearances on Fox News Channel in the wake of his caustic comments.

"These two are now acting the way the mainstream media has been acting for decades, thinking they are the gatekeepers of who shall be heard in the conservative world," Savage sputtered in a statement.

"Both are jealous of my audience and are trying to silence me because they do not want the competition."

Savage boasted that the supposed "ban" has not affected sales of his new book, "Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder," which debuts at No. 6 on the New York Times best-seller list next week.

The gay-bashing broadcaster isn't the only publicity hound taking aim at O'Reilly, the undisputed king of cable news.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue, famed for firing off several press releases a day to media outlets, is ticked that O'Reilly once described him as a "witch-hunter" and Pope John Paul II as an "autocrat."

"My members are a little bit fed up with him," Donohue claims. "I guess he feels like if he is to the left of me, he'll appear more fair and balanced. We're on the same side philosophically on most issues. But I feel like, when someone crosses the line from criticism

I've seen him on FOX, just not on O'Reilly. Matter of fact, he was a guest on Neil Cavuto's show not too long ago.

Rush, Mike, Sean, Glen, etc., etc. They all have good points, and engage in 2-way conversation (to radio's limited extent).

So many of these radio talk show hosts are complete phonies. In the aftermath of Rush Limbaugh's success, we've seen an endless train of copy-cats who have tried to parlay their marginal radio talent into lucrative media careers.

There's only one "King of Talk Radio" -- and that's Rush. Everyone else is a poor imitation.

FWIW, I stopped listening to Michael Savage when I realized that he uses the infamous "Cashbox" technology on his radio show -- something that any respectable talk radio host would specifically prohibit in all of their syndication contracts.

Michael Savage is an acquired taste. He's not always good. But when he is good he is great and blows the competition out of the water.

Well said.

Rush is hanging on right now. He doesn't need the money and he's lost a lot of his fire. His show has turned into something that he uses to pass the time until his next celebrity golf outing. I still try to listen when I can but after 10 minutes of "what I did on my weekend vacation", it's back to the oldies station for me.

Agreed. Once upon a time I would never, ever have missed Rush. But now,(shrug of the shoulders) whatever...

IMHO he's gone from being kind of laughing Jove, to more and more a scold & a shrew. The clod of dirt on the coffin to me was when he scolded some of the folk on 24/7 re: the ditto-cam was not turned on.

"Now,look,I told you people..."he scolded, and you could practically see the finger wagging. Seeming to forget that we --the consumers -- are doing him a favor to him, not the other way around.

Probably to make room for Err Amerika, which XM is supposedly going to start broadcasting. I am going to cancel my XM subscription and move to Sirius when/if this happens.

He goes after Rush when it is obvious that Rush is just a cheerleader for the GWB administration, you know, GOP good, Dems bad. When Rush did do a program about illegal immigration and how he disagrees with GWB, Savage noted it and gave credit to Rush. He gives credit to Rush often with respect to the establishment of conservative talk radio, for if it wasn't for Rush, folks like Savage know they would be in a different line of work.

"Cashbox" is the brand name for a radio compression instrument that uses the five-second delay in radio broadcasts to adjust the length of a radio segment on the air as it is being transmitted. Basically, it takes the broadcast and compress it into shorter segments by cutting out the natural pauses in the broadcaster's speaking pattern (in very tiny increments). The whole purpose of it is to reduce the length of an hour of broadcasting by 30, 60, 90, etc. seconds -- so that additional advertising time can be fit into the schedule.

If you listen closely to Savage you may be able to pick up some faint "zap" sounds in the midst of his on-air broadcast. This is "Cashbox" at work.

No respectable talk show host uses this kind of thing -- and many of them got a bad rap when it was learned that local radio stations were using it for nationally syndicated shows (without the knowlege of the parent station or the radio host). Rush Limbaugh has a clause written into his syndication contracts that gives him permission to immediately terminate the contract of any radio station broadcasting his show that alters the content or sound of his show in any way.

Agreed... Savage has moments of complete lunacy... but also has moments of utter Brilliance.... Hannity is just parrot of what he's fed by the RNC.. he could not remotely hang with Savage intellectually.

Based on reply 62 I think you need some kind of treatment, or maybe just a good woman. Sedition and treason? do you even know the definition for whatever he says of does can never be defined as those.

Thanks for the information, I think I understand.

Why would this be so bad? I still enjoy listening to him.

I know for a fact that Rush did at least use compression in the past however. An extra 90 secs of commercial sales is big money.

that loon can't keep on one thought for more than 5 seconds.

"Sean Hannity is a Repub bootlicker. And my Gawd, did you see the brawl between the Knicks and Pacers last night?! What's this planet coming to anyway when a man can't even get a deli rye sandwich with Peruvian mustard and lean bacon. Probably due to all the Peruvian's illegally immigration. And tell me how you feel about the Minutemen. Maybe we should have the minutemen up here in San Fran to keep all the bums out. My Gawd have you seen all these bums around here??!?

And just how is Bill Donohue of The Catholic League "a hater"? For defending Catholics and the Catholic Church when leftists and faux rightists like O'Reilly slander and attack Catholics?

Some examples of Donohue's "hate," please.

The problem with it is that it impugns the integrity of the radio talk show host by making him seem overly commercialized.

A good parallel would be a music label that takes original works of musicians and cuts them off prematurely just to fit more of them on a CD. If a certain song from So-And-So band is supposed to be 3 minutes and 42 seconds in length but is faded out after 3:25 just so it can fit on a "greatest hits" CD, then professionals in the music industry will usually write poor reviews for the CD just on principle.
