TexKat has learned that her son has been injured in Iraq. TexKat posts the daily Operation Phantom Fury Thread....she has left her workplace and has returned to her home to await details....
Thank all of you praying Freepers and please continue to pray for mine and for all others that are in harms way. My son took a licking and is lower back sore but still ticking, thank God.
I talked to him while he was still in the hospital in Baghdad (I guess that is where the hospital is.) and then he is scheduled to be flown back to camp later. God has spared him again.
From what I gather this was an ambush, yes near the Abu Ghraib area. He was 5th in the convoy and there was a van that was stopped on the side of the road. After a bit they noticed that the van began to move. The driver of the van pulled up alongside of the M1070 that my son was driving, smiled and then blew himself and everything around him up. My son was thrown from the truck and landed on his back. He stated that the heat from the fire from the truck penetrating on his face brought him to, and at that time he began to empty his rifle. The terrorist enemies were there shooting but were not in sight, evidently shooting from enclosed vacilities, just like a few weeks ago in the same area of Abu Ghraib.
The passenger soldier that was in the M1070 with my son broke his arm (his shooting arm)at the elbow I believe and was or will be flown to Germany. My son was a little shaken, but said that he was a bit calm now after talking with the chaplain, being interviewed by CIA, etc.
This incident today was said to be a new technique by the terrorist crazies.
Please keep SSG. Smith in your prayers as well as all of our sons and daughters that are giving so much for freedom for us and for the Iraqis.
May God bless all of you.
TexKat

May her son receive a complete healing.
Vans stopped on the side of roads near convoys should be ascertained to be safe or destroyed before the convoy passes by.

It's good to hear your son is okay. He has my thanks and appreciation, as do you.
God bless your son. I'm glad to hear that he's alright.
Blessed be Our Saviour who has shown great mercy to your son. Thank you Jesus for TexKat's son's life. Bring him and all of our soldiers safely home as soon as may be.
Definitely praying, TexKat.
FWIW, I am sure that Major K. and the brothers are all over this. They just put away the trash that killed CPL. Watkins.
Oh, our baby, I am so glad God left him with us, what a miracle to be thrown free....and painful too..
Am praying for all of our military, and saying prayers of thanks that our son was spared.
Hugs to you Kat, wish I could be there to give them in person.......
Ruth
Thank you for the post! I just learned about this....their entire family is in my prayers...
Ping.
Guilty of posting with out reading the entire thread, but the sons and daughters all deserve an extra prayer for this day's work.
How wonderful that TexKats son was spared this day, one has to call it a miracle.
Thank you God for each young ones life you spare.
God bless both of you TexKat!! I'm so glad he's going to be okay!
Thank God he's OK.
My brother got back last month, safe and sound. Still have one over there, though.
Dolly....the instant news is a mixed blessing...everytime I heard a chopper was down or Mike's base bombed my heart sank...I remember when ohioWfan's son Eric's base was bombed....Mike was in a position to find out if he was a casuality....these are very trying times for those who wait.
Thank you Jemian.
Surely You guarded this precious son of Tex Kat. Surely Your angels were given charge over him to keep him in all his ways. Your hand of healing rests upon him and the other brave troops even now as we pray together. Great is Your faithfulness, O Lord, to those who trust in You and in Your unfailing love. We commit these precious loved ones to You, knowing that You are their Keeper. Bring peace to the hearts of those who anxiously wait at home for them. We love You, Father, and trust You to supply their every need. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
My prayers and deep appreciation for your son's service and sacrifice, and for your well being as well, my friend.
Prayers of thanks that your son is OK, and prayers for all who continue to be in harms way.

Prayer for Those Who Await a Soldier's Return

We just found out that our future daughter-in-law's brother in law was also injured by mortar fire last week.
He got shrapnel in his neck and leg, but has returned to duty.
I'd appreciate prayers for him, too.
