I'm wondering if he will choose Peter or John in his names. God Bless OUR NEW POPE, CARDINAL JOSEPH RATZINGER!! MAY HIS REIGN BE LONG AND TRUE TO GOD'S TEACHINGS. NEW NAME: JUST ANNOUNCED POPE BENEDICT THE SIXTEENTH.

I was so close. How come they can't just select me for Pope ONCE???

And I'm not even Catholic. :-)

From what I understand, he is a good, Holy, conservative man. Best wishes to my Catholic FReeper brethren.

"So, is Cardinal Ratzinger a good choice?"

They are saying so on the news.

I am not a catholic so I personally do not know.

YES!
We got our choice.

What a totally glorious day.
I just know John Paul the Great is pleased.

Well, again, if the prophecies are true, the new Pope will be not Hispanic but from the "old France" (german?, austrian?); after about 8 months, the Pope will have to run away from Rome, and he will be moving towards Germany - Austria (returning to his country?). But he won't succeed and will move towards the South of France where he will be assassinated together with the other cardinals/priests with him by a group of armed people (probably soldiers). Next Pope will not be voted in a Conclave but dessignated (imposed by Muslims?). That will be the antipope. The Big War would be WWIII: China, Russia and Iran against the rest of the world. They will start invading Italy and France. USA will get involved too late. Mass destruction and bioligical weapons will be used (for about 20 years) and only one third of the world's population will survive. After that no other Pope. Maybe the Catholic Church will still exist but without a Pope?. Then the Final Judgement. That's why I am praying an African or Asian Cardinal is elected, so that I am certain and positive that the profecies were not true.

They thought that about John XXIII, too. And about Pope Leo XIII, who lived to be over 100.
