Police: Dozens Watch As Student Forced To Perform Sex Act Officials Say Student Videotaped Abuse

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police say several students witnessed the sexual abuse of a girl at a Columbus high school.
A 16-year-old student with developmental delays said she was dragged into the auditorium of Mifflin High School, punched and forced to perform oral sex on at least two male students while more than a dozen other students were called in to watch.
One student reportedly videotaped the sex acts, WCMH-TV in Columbus reported.
A student witness reported hearing an attacker warn, "If you scream, I'll have my boys punch you."
The same witness said the girl then dropped to her knees after she was punched in the face.
Students scattered when help was called, officials said.
During the attack, one witness looked for a school security guard but could not find anyone, he told investigators.
"We went back to the auditorium; the victim was 'butt naked,"' the witness said, and someone "was on top of her."
The attackers then ran from the scene, and witnesses helped the girl get dressed before taking her to a security employee, who is not a police officer.
Mifflin High School officials who found her bleeding from the mouth March 9 did not call police, and an assistant principal cautioned the girl's father against calling 911 because the media might get involved, according to statements from school officials obtained by The Columbus Dispatch. But the girl's father insisted on calling police and contacted them later that afternoon.
Special education teacher Julie Calvario said the girl told her about the incident.
"(She said) she was scared and told him to stop, but he hit her in the head and told her to be quiet," Calvario said.
Even after administrators were alerted to the alleged criminal act, they did not call police, or the victim's father, WCMH reported.
More than an hour later, teacher Lisa Upshaw called the girl's father. Upshaw said that when the girl's father arrived, assistant principal Richard Watson would not call the police.
The girl's father demanded that school officials call the police.
"Mr. Watson said, 'No we don't want to do that, we don't want the police,"' Upshaw told the investigator.
In his statement, Watson said he told the father to "go ahead and call," but not to call 911 because the "news channel might tape his daughter and cause her further mental trauma."
Richard Watson is one of three assistant principals suspended for 10 days. Principal Regina Crenshaw will likely lose her job, WCMH reported.
The girl's father called police after Upshaw told him, "This is child abuse. She needs medical attention and this is wrong."
WCMH reported that Upshaw also told the girl's father that he needed to take the victim to the hospital and that she was a walking crime scene.
Administrators reportedly warned the father that if police were called, the news media would follow, WCMH reported.
Police said they now have the videotape and the investigation continues, although no charges have been filed so far.
I smell a lawsuit....and deservedly so.
I admitted to being pc incorrect when I surmised that the attack was probably black related. It appears the attack was black on black. There's a difference between race-related and racial. Race-related is an attitude - ghetto, gang, disciplinary - that sort of thing.
Apparently three weren't enough.

The thugs that assaulted me told her that I had made racist comments which is why they assaulted me and of course she believed them. Had I been so stupid to have done what they accused me of I would be dead. My fault was that I got in-between the thugs and a tiny white girl that was being harassed.
Anyway, the school principal (white) knew my character from the after school activities I was involved in as well as my academic status and knew that I had more brains than to make racists comments or instigate such a thing so he kept me from being suspended. I needed a few days off to recover though.
Sad that our homeschooled kids will be missing out on socialization.
Anyway, back when I was in school a "developmentally delayed" kid was punched and had his books dumped in front of dozens of students on a daily basis. Isn't that what middle school is all about?

If the girl has a speech impediment (which was reported on a radio station this am), the she isn't slow or mentally retarded, imo. And this issue is another of many about this sickening situation that ticks me off. Just because someone studders, let's say, doesn't mean they are retarded or slow. So for the news source to say she's developmentally disabled when in fact she has speech difficulties is like calling a cow a cat.
Unbelievable? The teachers pretend to teach, the children pretend to learn, and the parents pretend that the teachers are teaching and the children are learning. The system works.
For this type of thing we should borrow a page from our Islamic enemies.

Public school mission statements are always good for a laugh. This mission statement begs the question all over the place.
Do we ever expect newspapers to get anything right?
I am familiar on a first hand level with some of the worst schools in this country and can tell you the real tragedy of these places is not the violence but the fact that very few of these kids are LEARNING anything to help them survive in this world.
The bottom line is that if you REALLY enforced the rules of common civility and insisted on high academic standards at least half of the students would no longer be able to attend.Thus the school would lose half of its state funding and half the staff would be gone.Not something the system would want to be party to so the charade continues year after year and the wasted lives just filter through the schools into the jails and unemployment lines.Truly pathetic.

Your experience is 180 degrees different than mine. Most blacks will attack the whites (often with immunity from the teaching staff). I have personally seen it on many occassions. Also FBI statistics dont back up what your saying - most violent crimes committed by one race against another race are by blacks committed against whites.

This is a pattern that unfortunately gets the pass by the liberals. Most liberals are white who come from privaleged backgrounds and feel guilty for the lies the media/hollywood feeds them. Damn good of you to stand up for that girl - Im sure she will never forget what you did. Black Racists in the public school system breed this stuff and now are forcing it on the rest of society by calling id "Diversity" training.
I doubt the assistant principal really believed them. I just think she truth was irrelevant to her in this situation, sorta like the O.J. trial.

The entire education system and its philosophy should be torn up by its roots and rebuilt again from the ground up.
My wife and I conversed with a person who had an education degree over this past weekend. She said she was taking math courses to prepare her for next fall.
She teaches first grade!
