Lawmakers strike that extremist lawmakers in Maryland have crafted legislation that should ensure job losses in their state.
The bill would force one company, the eeevil Wal-Mart, to either spend eight percent of their payroll on health benefits for their employees or hand over the money to the states health care program for the poor. State Senator and Finance Committee Chairman, Thomas Middleton, a Democrat of course said: Were looking for responsible businesses to ante up and provide adequate health care.
The legislators lets call them what they are in this case, extortionists said their aim wasnt to single out Wal-Mart, but the law is only applicable for businesses with more than 10,000 employees. Wal-Mart, which has 15,000 employees in the state, is the only company that is affected in legislation that doesn't target them. A veto by Governor Robert Ehrlich is expected but Democrats have the votes to override. Remember something else last week 21 Democrats in the United States Congress joined a union effort, demanding ABC News drop Wal-Mart as a sponsor.
So liberal Democrats think know better than Wal-Mart executives how to run the company? What Wal-Mart oughta do is yank a few stores out of the state right over the borders and take 5,001 jobs with them, bringing the employee numbers under 10,000. Heres the real message. If you are a large or rapidly growing business-stay the hell out of Maryland. I mean don't even get near it where they can smell you or you can smell them, because as long as these Socialist Democrats are in charge of the state legislature you're going to end up bankrupt.

As do some anti-Wal-Mart posters on Free Republic.

Yup. You should get stiffed on everything you buy so some lazy union jackass can buy a summer home. That's conservative.

Maybe Wal Mart should just announce the closure of all their stores in that state, putting 15,000 out of work, and see how that goes over.

I agree. My sister, who was retired, decided to go back to work for a few hours each day, just to get out some. She got a job at Wal Mart. She has nothing but good things to say about how she is treated as an employee. I discussed this Wal Mart bashing with her once. She said that Wal Mart ain't exactly filled with rocket scientists type employees. My sister was an accountant and tax prep, handling, type person. She said that most of the people there are just simple, every day people, who are happy to have a job, some type of benefits, etc. She said you ain't gonna get rich there, but the choice of having no job or having a job is up to you. You prepare for it, the job and life, yourself. If you only prepare your life for a Wal Mart floor job, or hamburger flipping job, then expect to be paid wages at those levels, and not as the NASA rocket scientist. She said that most who bash Wal Mart, don't have all the facts, only those "bad" things that everyone wants to point too. And, you can point to bad things in almost all jobs and positions!

I agree with Rush. WalMart pulled some stores out of the province of Quebec in Canada for anti-union sentiments. They should pull out of the state completely and leave 15,000 unemployed to spite the RATS and their union loving crap. The unions have lost a lot of their power because corporations look after their employees and don't need unions. They should go the way of the dodo bird. Bye, bye unions. Bye, bye RATS

The correct term is looters.
To: Sybeck1
Is health care a constitutional right now? Absolutely! ...right up there with your right to a high-paying job, regardless of your qualifications, and a driver's license, regardless of your driving record, and a college education, regardless of your high-school grades and SAT scores. </sarcasm>

That was sarcasm? To claim that all those are constitutional rights? Yes, that's sarcasm.

Sooo...the state government mandated that 8% of wages must go to health-care benefits regardless of the employees desires? I'm sure Wal-Mart can comply. Hopefully the state won't pass a law prohibitting Wal-Mart from telling the employees where that 8% went.
