A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Smiles from our Furry Friends
SMILES
Verse: Dear -ie, now I know just what makes me love you so, Just what holds me and en -folds me in its gold -en glow; Dear -ie, now I see 'tis each smile so bright and free, For life's sad -ness turns to glad -ness when you smile on me;
Chorus: There are smiles that make us hap -py, There are smiles that make us blue; There are smiles that steal a -way the tear -drops As the sun -beams steal a -way the dew; There are smiles that have a ten -der mean -ing That the eyes of love a -lone may see, And the smiles that fill my life with sun -shine Are the smiles that you give to me.
Okay...sing-along time!!! (unless your freeping at work!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are smiles that make us hap -py,
There are smiles that make us blue;
There are smiles that steal a -way the tear -drops
As the sun -beams steal a -way the dew;
There are smiles that have a ten -der mean -ing
That the eyes of love a -lone may see,
And the smiles that fill my life with sun -shine
Are the smiles that you give to me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!! - Love - Giz and Friends

There are many candidates for the original or ur-shaggy dog story. William and Mary Morris, in The Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins, give a version of it that involves an advertisement being placed in The Times to announce a competition to find the shaggiest dog in the world. After a vast amount of effort and investigation (described in detail, after the nature of this type of story), the winning dog was presented to the aristocratic instigator of the competition, who said: I dont think hes so shaggy.

Hiya, Lady!
Thanks for the beautiful rainbows. I coulda used one or two today 'cause it's been cloudy all day and the rain just started. I'll have to put these two in my pocket for tomorrow when I go to Atlanta to the doctor. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow, too. Atlanta freeways in the rain, oh nooooo!
I just love pet day at the Finest. Good job, duchess (and to you, LadyX, for the little hint you sent her way...). Cute critters, all!

Hmmmmm--
INTERNATIONAL THINKING AT ITS BEST
Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization
Answer: Princess Diana's death
Question: How come?
Answer:
An English princess
with an Egyptian boyfriend
crashes in a French tunnel,
driving a German car
with a Dutch engine,
driven by a Belgian who was drunk
on Scottish whisky,
(check the bottle before you change the spelling)
followed closely by Italian Paparazzi,
on Japanese motorcycles;
treated by an American doctor,
using Brazilian medicines.
This is sent to you by an American,
using Bill Gates's technology,
and you're probably reading this on your computer,
that use Taiwanese chips,
and a Korean monitor,
assembled by Bangladeshi workers
in a Singapore plant,
transported by Indian lorry-drivers,
hijacked by Indonesians,
unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen,
and trucked to you by Mexican illegals.....
That, my friends, is Globalization
