No disaster relief this time. To hell with that part of the world.

Yep, I recall that those ingrates told us to get lost...

Sounds like a plan to me..

With the log scale an 8.5 is about 3 times the strength of 8 and about 1/3 the strength of a 9.0

The creation of an Asia-wide early warning system for tsunamis must be accompanied by teaching campaigns to inform the public how to respond....

Does this not just make you sick? How about a public warning system that yells "Head for high ground, NOW!" Not enough money in it, I suppose.

And both with a full moon...

Isn't that part of the world on the other side of the international date line? That would either make it either on Christmas and Easter itself or two days afterwards. I always get that date line thing mixed up so I can never tell whether it's "yesterday" or "tomorrow" over there.

Either way, it's quite a coincidence.

Geothermal lag? I'd think it would be coincidental -- can't imagine that insolation or solar wind -magnetic effects would be enough to throw a plate for a jig.

looks like same area, not same place; the other one was higher up, I think, by Banda Aceh.....at the tip of the pinninsula, out toward the ocean, of course.

Religous coincidence? Day after Christmas and the day after Easter.

What an incredible coincidence.

If you believe in coincidence. Could be some sort of divine message?

Just saying.

"Fox News calling this 'definitely a thrust event.'"

Strangely enough this reminds me of a conversation I had over the weekend about sex with a fat woman. The physics are the same.

Which is why I'm not convinced it's an aftershock.

Epicenter just shows the beginning of rupture.

I suppose it could have something to do with the placement of the sun... if someone could figure out a correlation... they'd be a hero in my book...
