Geothermal lag? I'd think it would be coincidental -- can't imagine that insolation or solar wind -magnetic effects would be enough to throw a plate for a jig.
I suppose it could have something to do with the placement of the sun... if someone could figure out a correlation... they'd be a hero in my book...
